99% of the time, 5th wheel malfunctions will be noticed during a pre trip or before or after coupling. He came into the dc attached correctly, unhooked, rehooked incorrectly probably because of fatigue, and the trailer detached. Period. If he got his lazy behind out of his truck after hooking back up, would have been noticed. There's a reason a lot of companies will terminate you if you drop a trailer. Don't be soft about it.
