Not a hunter, but ive seen snugger less drafty deer blinds than my cab...
Ive used a smaller one in the cab still have it, but dont carry it anymore. managing the little propane tanks are too much of a pita.

I’d err to the side of caution with a CO alarm, and still be nervous.Rideandrepair, Diesel Dave, JoeyJunk and 3 others Thank this. -
We had one in a Casita travel trailer that we use for a portable logging shack on the ranch. It ate propane like it was free and juggling the little canisters got to be a PITA. It almost constantly needed adjustment and would heat the immediate area without the heat traveling very far. It was kinda like huddling around a very small camp fire but the installed heater ate propane too and we thought we'd save some bucks.
The biggest thing that bothered me was the carbon monoxide alarm going off almost constantly unless we opened the roof vent and several windows. When we did that all the heat, what there was of it, escaped.
I brought another carbon monoxide alarm up to double check against the one hard wired in the trailer and the portable one went off more often.
We threw the Buddy on the scrap iron pile, bought a Honda generator, and ran the heater already installed in the trailer. Once we got it jetted properly it didn't use much propane at all.AModelCat, Rideandrepair, Diesel Dave and 3 others Thank this. -
CO kills ! remember that!
Rideandrepair and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
the Mr Buddy heater should not put off any carbon monoxide at all unless its badly malfunctioning .
It is a catalytic heater as apposed to the ones that balance on top of a propane tank.
The only CO coming off it should be at the pilot.
As for the low oxygen shutoff , if you saw how it worked you would not put much faith in it!
I took mine apart to adjust it to run at high altitude ... yeah, make sure you do the math right on ventilation and have a CO detector or two and you will be fine
I do it , but I am VERY confident in my math skillsRideandrepair, JoeyJunk and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Also , for anyone that might someday be exposed to CO , one of the very weird symptoms to long term exposure is a sense of impending doom or the feeling there is a ghost in the room with you. No kidding , this is the source of many many ghost stories.
Carbon Monoxide does crazy stuff to your brainRideandrepair, Siinman, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
I carried a BBQ tank with me because I do what I want when heat is necessary.
I can’t believe I didn’t die.Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this. -

I locked myself in the garden shed and started the lawnmower when I was 14. My sister came home early from school that day and ruined my plan.
2 days in ICU, and yeah - those symptoms you mentioned.Rideandrepair, Siinman, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
Don’t hold me to this but I research those Mr. buddy heaters a few years ago and I think they’re safe for use in a closed environment they don’t put off CO. And they have a built-in oxygen sensor so they will shut down if anything goes wrong. They’re pretty safe little heaters. But you have to make sure it’s an authentic Mr. buddy heater. Please do your own research before using one because this was a while ago when I looked into one of those.
Rideandrepair Thanks this.
