Haha, I wore a nice USX shirt for years after I left the company, until one of my nephews finally appropriated it, lol... had a little embroidered truck on it and everything, and good material too, not like the 'Chinese Junk' ya see nowadays.![]()

I do remember 12 years ago going to a place in Deer Park, Tx that at the time, didn't allow beards. One guy showed up with one and they handed him a razor and pointed to the restroom. He headed to his local terminal to drop trailer.LtlAnonymous, Opus, Lonesome and 4 others Thank this. -
Went to do a drop and hook and they told me to shave.
I left and went back across the river to terminal and they didn’t get their load delivered for 2 days when another driver was in area, we only had 7 drivers at our terminal, 5/7 had beards.Loudstacks, LtlAnonymous, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this. -
I definitely wasn't a fan of shaving. This was probably the first time in over seven years that a razor touched my face. But at least they were upfront about that part.

38 cents? Are they stuck in a time warp or something? When will people stop working for these poverty wage carriers?

I have always thought that big companies like Schneider short you on your pay because as they see it, they invested a bit of money on a new driver. From their prospective they have invested not only in paying the new driver during the orientation, but there is the cost of getting him there, the motel room, whatever food is provided, and the cost of the trainers at the school. I suspect they probably are aware that a lot of the new drivers are going to only stay about a year or so in order to get that experience and then jump out to one of the better paying tanker companies.
Not saying this is right, but I suspect they have quite a few MBA's on payroll that have run multiple cost analysis on their program, and this current method is able to keep them in the tanker business as a starter company, and make a decent profit.LtlAnonymous and MSWS Thank this. -
I think with Schneider, the initial pay for a new driver is low, but once you’ve been here for a year, it does come up a good bit with cpm increases and performance bonus. Almost a year and a half in, I’m making .51cpm plus a small hourly pay for on-duty not driving. My gross weekly pay is generally around $1,500. I don’t consider that too bad for my experience. I could make more elsewhere, but would probably have more stress and less home time than I have now.
