Got the same bunch here in Detroit, and the Chicago guys too. They drive down the rates, and their driving skills are much to be desired. I wish we could deport the entire lot. I believe too that they are the cause of one to many illnesses out here too. The b stards have third world bathroom and overall sanitary habits.

Simple question,,,, Do you get upset with guys throwing piss jugs around, do you shake your head when people dump a bag of garbage out of their window onto the truck parking lot?
Does it bother you? Do you care? Why? -
Mannnnn. If you like elogs then nice for you. Back off everyone else's case who perfer paper- That's like trying to make everybody vegetarian because you don't eat meat! We live in America, free to choose, free to choose. You truck driving elog supporters that push your self righteous views on others are real annoying.
Your singing the same song, created by non truck driving politicians- saying *o we agree, o we agree, with Steve from the FMCSA -
The tables are tilted against small business and independent truckers. We don't get the big fuel discounts, the big tire discounts, the big new truck/ trailer discounts. So if they want to cheat a bit then man, i don't blame em'DOGSLIFE, Trucker61016, longbedGTs and 4 others Thank this. -
So you are fine with disobeying the law, it doesn't matter, right, ok, fair enough, where do you draw the line, 14 hrs 2 mins, 16 hrs 10 mins, ?????????????????? -
From what I can gather by reading throughout all these various subforms on the topic, seems many who don't want to deal with eLogs just don't want to be bothered with having to be more mindful of their trashing around in truck stops, sleeping late, thinking ahead, etc.
But I get it "free country", "invasion of privacy", "big brother getting too big", "gonna lose loads", and all that. Maybe you'll get your way and another extension of implementation will be granted. I don't care. I have my niche where I've learned to live with eLogs and slow trucks, and still make a good living. eLogs are going to be tougher for some than others just based on reality, logistics, and geography. To those I say, keep fighting it. But you really need to be trying to run 100% legal on paper for a month to get a sense of what you're going to be up against and how you can perhaps mitigate "the pain", and write your political reps demanding HOS reform.
Sooner or later, they're going to come. Many politicians and bureaucrats want them just because the hobbling of the industry they impose can create more "make work" workers ... more middle class taxpayers where all future huge tax hikes are going to come from and they convince themselves they are "making the roads safer for all". Perception is all that matter in today's political reality. The sooner you understand and accept this, the faster you'll understand why. The sooner you understand the "how and why" and what drives modern politicians and bureaucrats, then you can develop a better response and action plan.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
I'm curious now. Where did you learn this?
AFAIK, you need a green-card to get a CDL, then you must hold a valid regular driver license for at least 1 year, before CDL upgrade.
If that's the case, how then are these "foreign drivers" coming in under "threat". This is not H1B program that most IT companies use to "indenture" most indians/chinese workers. -
if they bought as much fuel or tires or bought the number of pieces of equipment, then they would get the same discounts...just like the Sams/Costco/BJ's way of business...buying in bulk/high volume gets the discount.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

For me it's more about being able to park at a decent place. In some areas it can be 3 or more hours between those and stopping a few hours early when I'd likely only be 5 or10 minutes over sucks.
And of course the big brother thing. -
Seems there are two lines of thinking regarding HOS and elogs: Winston Smith and the Parsons children.
