5 years in the biz Knight has no use for you. It's all right here, all you need to know. Knight exploits dumb kids that don't know any better.

Well, according to the post, they don't reimburse for bulbs, oil, or coolant. Also, according to the post, if you go to a terminal that is NOT your home terminal, they usually won't give you what you need. How many times are you going to pay for a $20 jug of oil and other supplies needed to maintain THEIR truck without being reimbursed?

Kept pretending he couldn't understand English and he gave me a trailer with no fluids in it and it was scaled illegal and had two blown tires. He blew them the previous day and limped over to the stop I was at and of course, I GOT STUCK WITH waiting for new tires... while he got to go home on time for Christmas.

STAY TUNED. I'm going to start beating other Knight drivers over the head with my tire thumper when they do stupid #### like this. I've had enough!!!

Made it home for x-mas. Every man for himself at KR. I pulled into Fontana yard and three drivers told me all the trailers needed light repair. I hooked up and dropped the non working trailer at Van Nuys Budweiser. I made it home for x-mas, someone else didn't. I don't get paid to fix trailers so I don't!

OK, I have to chime in on this thread. Knight is what it is. I worked for them in various capacities for over 16 years, including driver. I've been gone for a few years but I still have a lot of friends both driving and in the office there.
1: I find it hard to believe they would not give you whatever you need at a shop. They just turn around and bill it back to the terminal that the truck is based out of. The shops actually "make money" by working on other terminals equipment. I don't want to get in a big debate about this but that is the way their accounting system works.
2: The payroll systems sucks - been a problem since as long as I can remember. You need to watch your pay. If somethings wrong or you don't get reimbursed you'll need to most likely go to your DM or Division manager because payroll is less than helpful. You will eventually get your money but it can try your patience. I don't think they intentionally screw it up - a lot of it is automated and I think the system misses receipts you scan.
3: Just like anyplace else - your DM will be a big factor in how sucessful you are at Knight. Some are stone cold rookies straight out of college and some are very experienced.
4: They have a bad habit of putting off fixing things. If your tires are "legal" you're probably not going to get new tires until they are not. Etc Etc. Again, it depends on your terminal and shop. Less of a problem with refrigerated.
5: It's not a bad commpany. I'd say the refrigerated side is 100% better than the red side. It's a little smaller and has better managers in my opinion. Pay could be better but you know what it is before you start. I think there's probably way worse starter companies out there.

For Iowa trucker - Greg Guzman in Green Bay is a good guy, I heard he is the Division Manager there now. The old DM - Ryan Gott was even better - really good and honest man. I don't know for sure who is in Green Bay anymore as far as diver managers but it used to be a pretty good terminal to work for. Good luck to you.

Smaggs - hang in there. It does get better. I hope you at least make it a year. It'll make getting something better that much easier.

Sorry, I've always been reimbursed, if it doesn't show on payroll I send a message to my DM and he replies back. The only time I have issues is when my DM is gone, thats when I don't get PO's for my local runs, thats when it takes Almost half an hour to get an express code for a com check. But when he's there everything is gravey baby.

A driver has to battle the issues at the lowest levels first, and payroll isnt the lowest level.

Well, thats good to hear then. The poster stated he didn't get reimbursed for them, and I thought that was very odd. I can't imagine any carrier having serviceable equipment if they refuse to reimburse on oil, coolant, and lights. That's total insanity.

That's one of the first things they told us in orientation. Stock up at the terminals because we won't reimburse. I agree with the idea but reality was another story in the world of Knight.
