I ran my generator with a/c in real conditions last night. It was 92 degrees outside when I shut down.
I set the a/c with vents facing just inside of the bunk area and closed the big curtains around it, with the unit blowing inside the bunk area.
It got too cold...
I'm going to have to fine tune the system, including having a custom vent shield that fits the truck window precisely.
The generator was very quiet, although I must admit with all the carbon monoxide poisoning talk, it was a little tough to get to sleep
I used about 1.5 gallons of fuel for 8 hrs. Which is a heck of a lot less than the .75 gal per hour my truck burns while idling, not to mention the added hrs on the engine.
My Honda EU3000iS generator set up...

Get something like this... it shows actual co2 and a buzzer to wake you if too high. Im sure lowes would have it and plenty of room to get into withtruck while you shop.

Glad to hear it's working wellTerry270, Hurst and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
Yeah, I got the combo one, it doesn't show the co2 level though.

All you guys worried about carbon monoxide must not have been around when 100 trucks sat a truck stop, all with engines running puking out all sorts of nasty fumes. I know I slept well. I know it is wise to be safe but don't overthink it.

The point is not the trucks running, but the low exhaust exit. Weedburners are almost more common than stacks any more. To my mind, getting the exhaust fumes up and into the wind is less of a concern than your neighbor's truck (or APU) dumping its fumes just under your sleeper window. Of course, it could all be in my head.

Diesel don't produce carbon monoxide. At the levels of a gasoline engine, and by the way. Carbon monoxide is CO, carbon dioxide is co2, coCoos the fizz in coke,

With an APU you'll have to keep track of its yearly hours for tax purposes. From there you can only write off the diesel fuel taxes from the burn rate which is fair to you and fair to the government.
With a gasoline generator, you can write off 100% of the gasoline purchased, not just the road taxes.razor1983 Thanks this. -
