Depends on terminal I would say, you would most likely start on systems basically extra board and probably night schedules starting out, no real solid start times because you are covering extra runs or possibly regular scheduled runs if someone is on vacation or called off sick, it is possible to be a daytime systems driver though, in the case of the terminal I am at we have one, but basically you would be systems until a bid run opens up or a new run is created and you have the seniority to bid it.

Is there a lot of jumping from days to nights on the extra board system or does it mostly stay at nights ? I often wonder how much time those drivers spend at a hotel

Generally if you start the week running nights, you’ll run nights for the remainder of the week, slightly shifting if you run on your tens every day.

Semper Fi, my handle is in honor to my son who was in from 2013 to 2017, he was a 3531 with 1st MLG, CLR 1, CLB 1 Camp Pendleton, he was still in at the time I joined TTR, I was a 3521 myself, 1991 to 1995, went to Camp Johnson class AMOC 9, then sent to Okinawa and was initially with MTM co, 3rd Maint Bn, 3rd FSSG Camp Kinser, but then transferred to the newly formed MSSG 31 at that time, there for one year then sent to Camp Pendleton and was with H&S co, 1sr Maint Bn, 1st FSSG, 43 area Las Pulgas.

Pretty much along the lines of what McUzi said, during my time in systems I mostly ran nights, at that time there was only two of us systems drivers, the other driver primarily ran days, I think alot of it would depend on how the linehaul is set up at the terminal you are at.

Camp LeJeune, 8th motors. We merged with 2nd LSB and became 2nd TSB. Had to wear the red patches.

I was out by then but remember hearing about all that, my son explained to me that the FSSGs all became MLGs and how they formed the CLRs and CLBs, way different than what we would remember, if I understood him correctly he said that the red patchers are only a company or platoon sized element now within the CLBs, and that only Marines with MOS 0481 wear the patches.

Ok does anyone run one of the new Internationals on a regular basis? What's the secret to locking the rocking chair motion on the drivers seat, I have ####ed with every #### knob on there and have come up with nothing.
