I'm headed to training on the 13th and can really appreciate your thread which helps shed some light on what to expect. Hope you get that call soon, I'm sure you will!

Frankly, after talking to a former Maverick driver.........you can make over $40K your first year there.

I would do flat except I have no desire to throw tarps in -30 below or in high winds.

Got a call yesterday from drivers services that they had found me a mentor. She gave me his number and said he would be expecting my call. I called him as soon as I hung up with her and we made plans to meet late tomorrow night (tonight). He said he would call me an hour ahead of time and I mentioned I'm about an hour from the terminal he said he would call me a couple hours ahead of time instead.

so now here I am twiddling my thumbs. :biggrin_25525:

    Wedge Thanks this.

I got my call today. She said the mentor would be given my number and to expect a call from him, and that I need to be in Fontana by 10am tomorrow.

You're getting your first lesson already-- waiting lol. My mentor did that to me as well. Had me meet him at the terminal at x-time with all my stuff ready to go. I got there early and waited about 2 hours for him. Then he showed up and told me to wait in the driver's lounge til midnight then come knock on his truck and we out! Well my house was only 14 miles away lol so I went home and chillaxxed for while -- no skin...

    Thanks DM, I thought I replied to your question but I see I didn't. I don't know if he's a flatbed mentor, I hope so! :biggrin_25523:
At this point I don't even care that much, just want to go. I take that back, I would be upset but would still go.

I thought the same thing, so the waiting begins. On one hand it was nice to have a day notice but I'm sure his definition of 'late tomorrow night' is different than mine. I'm thinking 10 or 11 so we'll see.

    scottied67 and Wedge Thank this.
