I have a 95 w900 with a N14 that I have been chasing constant air issues with, originally the truck would stop building air at random points until it sat for 10-20 minutes and would work again. I replaced the Air Compressor itself, AD-9 dryer, D2 Governor, and all the lines to and from dryer to governor and tank to dryer with new. That has fixed the issue of not building air but I am now getting a consistent purge every 10-15 seconds at idle and increased with higher RPM's. I've traced the lines that were replaced to make sure they were not crossed in any way and found them to be correct and put a new purge valve in the new dryer on the off chance it was faulty, no fix, The governor's exhaust port has a slight leak coming out, so I tried TWO more D2 Governor's and still have air seeping from exhaust port, . Truck builds air great, and purges like it should, just too frequently. I have sprayed all lines and have found no leaks or hear any leaks besides the one coming from the Governors exhaust port. ( gauges stay at 125 for hours and passes all the air brake tests).

I’m sure the new one came with a new dryer filter?
Or you use the same old filter?

Are you loosing air between purges or just blowing off? Is it loosing air out of the purge valve?

does it have an E-con valve on it?

I can offer a suggestion, check the signal line to the governor, if you hadn't already figured out what the issue was. I had a tiny little pin hole in mine that made my air purge every 15 to 20 seconds after a little incident hitting some debris on the road. Broke a few fittings that when replaced the truck built and held air fine, but started the purging bit. Once that hole was found, cut the line behind it and hooked it back up and it stopped purging every 15 seconds. I couldn't hear any air leaks at all and it would hold air over night in the interim. Only air I did hear was like a swoosh noise each time the air would purge. I guess those signal lines to the governor are pretty sensitive.

The mistake of plugging the exhaust port on the governor happens sometimes. It can cause this issue. It will fight against the compressor unloader for a place for air to exhaust out causing the unloader to constantly cycle even if psi in the system is stable.
