    I'm with W900 and Injun,

I'd love to see Nana and Dick team together. That would make for one interesting TV episode of American Truckers.

Not a good idea. What do you think will happen when you match a driver from Menopausalville with a Dick (jones)?!:biggrin_25524:

Solo is freaking hard. I thought it would be, and I was right. I knew I respected the women who solo but now I do even more.

So far things have been pretty good other than locking my keys in my truck in Yuma AZ. I know have a magnetic key box on the truck, carry two sets at all times AND have a single door key hung around my neck like a latch key kid.

I've been asked out 3 times which is mind boggling to me, had to tell off two loaders at a produce company when they felt the need to chew me out because Walmart uses roll doors, and dealt with a drunk last night at a store who felt the need to party in the drive between myself and the dock.

I miss having someone to fuss at, I don't like working 14 hours a day, and frankly I now remember WHY I first enjoyed being a pampered princess at the beginning of my marriage.

I'll gripe less at Grandad when he's back on the truck, be grateful more for his pampering, and cherish his company more.

I now am absolutely sure that if I ever have to solo long term I'm going OTR because this local stuff will kill an old fat girl.

However, I feel more confident in my abilities. I CAN do the job without someone to help me. Although being able to call Guys Lady and talk for almost three hours until my cell battery died while waiting for a key to my truck was absolutely my salvation.

I truly love you people (well okay, there's a couple I don't) and am so grateful for your support, prayers and wishes.

    *goes back to bed*

just a word of wisdom if you find yourself locked out--youre in fliner right?
ok sooo i think there only is about 5 different freightliner keys--might help if you lock keys in truck and others are around
but good idea with mag key box
and dont worry--it will get easier, you have a lot on your plate right now--
    happy new year nana

Another reason I really like the Volvo is that it is impossible to lock the door from the outside without the key. Also I you happened to leave the headlights on and shut the engine off forgetting that, the lights will be shut off for you til restarting the engine.

I was worried about you Nana, sounds like things are going OK, cool.

Oh Nana please forgive me but when Carrie started reading this out loud I had to chuckle. I too have locked myself out not once but several times:biggrin_25523: and it was a frustrating humiliating thing...( even once on a fuel island in Des Moines) talk about feeling like a nincompoop.

But yes dear lady you are correct you CAN do this by yourself and thankfully you will have grandad back on the truck hopefully soon.

    Be safe Nana :biggrin_25514:
