Need Advice before making a decision.

    You'll be making 16 and a half cents per mile and home 3 days a week,talk about sad up coming checks.If it were up to me id stay at what im doing.You sound like you'll be quitting before long so why take the dedicated account.If by chance you did take the account then quit soon after that,I don't think future employers is going to see that part of quitting to ruin your chances of getting hired.What they're going to look at is the overall performance.How long you was there late loads ontime delivery,that sort of thing.You becoming driver of the quater is quite an accomplishment,congratulations.Employers are also going to look at that.

    stick to your goals. If what you have right now is good enough for you to stick out your contract, do that. Being unsure about codriver whom you've never met is a redflag for me. The lure of hometime is what it is. a lure. You are well on your way to contract completion, arent you? In the end, no matter what you hear from those who will post in this thread it is you that will have ot live with the decision.

    Home 3 days a week as a team. How many miles a week is that total ? Can't be much.

    So, what little else I could glean from the dispatcher was basically that It would be 3500 to 5000 miles a week. Yes, we would be splitting 33 cents a mile and making 16 cents. So basically, I'd be getting 33 cents for every 500 miles I drive and vice versa with this other guy. They want to find someone who is from the same area, so that way we would both get to pass home on a regular basis. I don't know about the home on a regular basis or not. He said, "you'd be by the house on a regular basis." That could mean that I would get to pass by the house and wave on a regular basis. Which is what I'm figuring. But he did specifically say that Dallas would be a destination. North Texas to Arkansas, Arkansas to Laredo, and then Laredo to Dallas. One big circle, three times a week. So I don't know. What I think I'll do is to say I'll take it, but I want the ability to go back to solo if I don't like it. If they can't agree to that one term then I'll just turn it down.

    Thanks for the advice guys. I was more concerned about how good it might look in a few months when I apply to other companies. But since they won't see it, I won't worry so much about what to do.

    No - prospective employers won't see much of the "in-house" stuff - if any. Just the stuff you did wrong.

    If it were me, I'd stick with what you're doing till the end of the contract, and politely leave.

    You're right - .33 times 5,000 and split - $850 gross? Not great. For team, let alone solo.

    What else that does not sound good is the mileage spread, 3500 - 5000 does not add up for a dedicated team even for a start up account, 1,500 a week is a lot, it should be more consistent, stay where you are for now get some more experience then move on.....
