ISX isn’t a bad motor but if your the 2nd owner then buy the Encore XT1 2nd owner warranty from Cummins just in case.

Ideally, go with the newer X15 Cummins. It’s a great engine.

    PE_T and mikey747 Thank this.

DD15 all day man. Bought my DD15 with 450K miles now 810K and still running like day one. Just make sure you keep good maintenance on it, and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT... USE QUALITY OIL...

    mikey747 and PE_T Thank this.

    2018 MX13 and 2019 X15 still happening.
These were both being used for super B trains, 140,000 lbs.

I have a 13 ISX Cummins with 897k miles, it has never had a rebuild.
Oil change every 12-15k miles with Lucas.
So according to that post, I’ve more than doubled the statistics.

Do the new X15s sound like they're going to chuck a rod like the later year ISX?

All have their good and bad .
    No engine is perfect.
    Maintenance matters.
    Next is luck.

Do you know how heavy you will run?
If you plan on running a lot off light loads i would be carefull to buy a 15l engine.
