So I’m new to the scene here. Got my CDL using the handy little waiver that my CO signed when I left the Marines. Had experience in the 16/870 low boy while I was in. Been looking at TMC and Maverick as I don’t have any civilian experience. Trying to figure which one is better for me. I’m in Arkansas if that makes a difference.

Maverick loves prior service newbies. Dale Clay was prior USAF and posted LOTS of YOUTUBE videos as be started orientation and worked at Maverick for a year or two. Maverick is based in Ark and probably a better place to work. Maverick and TMC have their own section for discussing the company.

Ignore what the web pages and recruiters claim. Talk to current working drivers to get the real info on companies.

Know lots of drivers at both companies.
Maverick would be a better choice, just my opinion.

Maverick securement training is supposed to be very good. I think TMC also gives good securement training.

just the overall corporate culture at Maverick. You will get some good training. Equipment is good. You will get good miles and pay for a mega. It is a solid company. Your going to work, tarp lots of things and in general get a good overall of the flatbed world. Then in a year or two you can move on to a better situation if so desired. You will have a solid background and skill set that will be valuable to a future employer.

TMC is owned by former military. Marines I believe.

Neither of these companies are worth starting with.

    Boyd Brothers Transportation
    P&S
    WTI
    Melton
    Montgomery Transport
    Tennessee Steel Haulers
    McElroy

These are flatbed companies that will take you on as a new driver.

    @Chinatown

I can say this, maverick load security training is excellent.
    it’s been since 04-05
i left for a local job at helena chemical, which didn’t pan out then worked for flatbed company in my home town.

Lot has changed but they do things “The Maverick Way”

    Chinatown Thanks this.
