Doesn't have to have a problem starting to be bad. Have owned a couple of hundred carriers and run into the same problem. Won't show a code, just interrupts the circuit.
Need help. Reefer shuts off with no reason given.

I have a X2 2100a that was working fine when I bought the trailer in March of this year.
Then I took it in Utility to have some work done, and when I picked it up and turned it on it was acting erratically.
When I turned it on sometimes it would go through the pre trip and start, and sometimes it would go through the pre trip and then the display would just go blank and reboot and do it over and over again.
Sometimes I would turn it on and I’d get nothing, no lights, like there was no power to the display.
I didn’t have any alarm codes stored either.
I checked the battery and it was good, all the connections and wiring seemed to be fine too.
I changed the toggle switch and it seemed to fix the problem for a couple days, and then it started doing it again.
After speaking to the Carrier parts person and him telling me the display does go bad and can shutdown your reefer, I came to the conclusion that I’m going to have take a chance and spend $1200 and buy a new display.
Either that or spend $300 -$400 dollars for the Carrier dealer to look at it and tell me it’s the display.
So I purchased and installed the new display myself with the new toggle switch I bought previously, and it’s been working great for the last five months.Short Fuse EOD and ducnut Thank this. -
I guess I'll answer my own question. Got it figured out. Reefer works good now.
Unlocked an advanced menu and checked the sensors. The discharge pressure was getting very high, up in 400s. Never seen it got to 460, when the unit actually suppose to shut down, but I suspect that it actually did when it shut down. Still don't know why it didn't set any codes.
So now the fix. Why it gets so high? Since the pressure is directly proportional to temperature my conclusion was that refrigerant is not getting cooled properly. Since the fan was working and all belts are good the only reason is clogged condenser.
So now how to clean it. Pay the dealer and hope they'll have time and do a good job - not my idea of fun for something I can do myself. So, when I got home, ordered 64 gallon water bladder, water pressure pump, radiator genie and coil cleaner solution from Amazon. Got it all setup in the back of my wife's Honda Pilot, filled up the bladder with water and went to parking place to work. Removed front cover from reefer unit, net behind it and start working. There is a lot of dirt came out of that condenser. Went back home twice to refill that bladder. Was washing till I didn't see no more dirt coming out of there. And that's it - all my problems got washed away.
Trailer works more efficient now then ever. Keep your condensers clean guys! -
