Try the Job Corps. My buddy that went to school with me get his training paid through them in full.

On a side note, I ended up going local, and he is in North Dakota freezing his butt off driving a water truck. He rakes in $10k a month doing it... So I guess he will be fine. Either way, we own our own CDL, and a lot of companies will substitute experience if you graduate from an approved school...

The straight forward is this if you go to C.R England you and your family will starve to death . You might do ok by yourself but you will have one heck of a time trying to feed the family and put a roof over their heads.

These companies don't train you for free . You sell your soul to the devil for job training that you won't be in in 5 years based on the statistics .

I recently just got solo qualified through CR England. It is just a starting point. They give you "free" training, as long as you work for them for 6 months. It is what you make of it. This is one of my very few breaks. Because I push my DM to get me my loads and miles. If you have no other choice England is a viable option and it can work for you. The majority of the people you see complaining on this forum about England are the people that want to sit and BS at the truck stops for hours on end and can't keep the left door shut. Yes they do ask if you want to lease. I told them straight up there is no way I'm leasing and they haven't pushed the issue. However, I am team driving because you can make more miles/money. If you go solo here, yes it is harder to get the miles. However, if you are motivated and want to drive you can make a good experience with England. Also, all dedicated routes are going to company drivers now. I just got a dedicated run that averages 2500 miles one way. No I haven't been here long but we bust our butt and drive and showed our DM that we want the miles so we got it. Yes this is a big company and I am sure they have done some people wrong. By no means do I think England is the greatest company. It is what it is, a starting point... You have to make your own decision. But I wanted you to know that if you have a positive attitude and have the want/need to make it work, you can. Just pay attention, be safe, and dont let your DM make you sit and you will be fine here. Then after the 6 months is up you have some experience and you are no longer obligated to work for them. Then your options open up and can find a better paying company. Just my .02 hope this helps.

CRENGLAND huh. This company has the worst reputation in the industry. Why drive for a company when chances of quiting is like 90% before getting the exp. This company pretty much forces you into leasing or get sent home and wait weeks to months for a company trk if you choose not to leease.

Millis is a good company. I just finished the school and am driving with a trainer now. It has been a good experience and everything is up front with no funny business.
If you really wanna drive and have an invitation to Millis you would be foolish to not take it.

You seem to have your blinders on if these are the only three companies you can come up. Either that or you have been dealing with a recruiter and these are the options they are telling you.

Try Central Refrigerated. They are a very good company, have their own school and aren't a mega-carrier. If not Central, there are thousands more to choose from. If you are deadset on England then go. Who knows, they maybe a good company for you.

As far as shifting, relax! You haven't even gone through school yet! Also tell your wife to relax! Its going to be quite awhile before you start bringing home paychecks! Probably likely be about two to two and half months before you start receiving a true paycheck. I would try to do as much side work as possible before heading off to school or maybe even have a yard sale or liquidate your assets off of Craigslist.

Also enjoy this time you have now with your family. Do as much as you can with your kids and wife because once you leave for the trucking life you are rarely going to see them. Personally I wouldn't recommend you do this at all, being you have a family, but I also understand you need to support them. It always bothers me when I hear you new guys getting into this industry with a wife and kids. I have been there, done that and missed the best parts of my life with my family. Moments I can never, ever have or re-live. By absolutely no means was it monetarily worth it!

i didnt not say i was going with cr england, they wanted me to come really bad but i told the recuiter that i wasnt going to come to there school. i tried central Refrigerated but they emailed me saying they would get back to me when the time is right i didnt meet what they were looking for. millis contacted me but i havent gotten back with them yet. i plan on giving them a call next week to see what needs to be done. me and my wife have talked about it into detail and we agree that i should do this to get a fresh start and a good name for myself. theirs no one hiring around my area for anything else. i would like to get my exp. then get on with a buddy of mine with the guy he is with. we have been through all the kids first so thats the main thing. i wish life was easy but its time to get this career choice on the road and make a #### living.

Doesn't appear that you are in any real rush to go to work.
