Where are you located? Depending on the climate you're operating in the possible causes to your issue can vary.
Is your automatic temp shut off enabled? If you're in high ambient temps they recommend not using this feature.
Also, have you tried to manually defrost the unit?mario01 Thanks this. -
It's in Florida. Yes the manual defrost works it won't do an auto defrost. Thanks for reply

Also not my carrier it in the shop and my boss makes me look up a bunch of failure codes and now has me looking up what could cause this issues...so don't know much about it because I'm inside doing paperwork and looking things up like this.

From the service manual for a 2004 XTC:
Check DTT1 and DTT2 temperatures in Data List (DTT2 only for
XTC and X2 units). The defrost mode may be initiated in three
different ways if the evaporator coil is below 40°F(4.4°C) OR the
SAT is below 45°F(7.2°C) for XTC and X2 units:
1. Defrost is initiated automatically at preset intervals by defrost
timer in the microprocessor.
2. Defrost is initiated by the defrost air switch.
3. The defrost mode may be manually initiated by pressing the
Manual Defrost Key.
------------
Since you can do a manual defrost, the conditions are good (evaporator is cold enough) and the unit is functionally capable of doing one.
So that leaves the two ways an automatic cycle can begin.
The defrost air switch detects that the evaporator is iced up and triggers it, or the selected time interval occurs (programmable via the keypad).
I would recommend you take the inside cover off and inspect the evaporator to see if it's clogged with trash or dirt, and clean it out with a hose or pressure washer while you're in there. If that doesn't fix it, you're probably better off in terms of time and money to take it to a dealer for diagnosis and service.mario01 Thanks this. -
Thank you very much sir I will try that....also if someone happen to have a manual for it I would appreciate it.

Well that was good info but manual defrost isn't working on it

Any Carrier parts dealer should be able to supply you with one that is correct for your model. Use this link to find the nearest one. Good luck on a weekend, as most are closed and the after hours people probably won't have access to something like that. Or want to, really. LOL.
I have never needed dealer service in FL so have no input on who is good there. In the region, I have had great service at Carrier Transicold South dealers. They're just not in FL. -
You posted earlier that it did. Did that just stop working?
What is the year and model (big lettering on the outside like "XTC" or "Phoenix")?
How is it set and what product are you hauling? Cycle or continuous, and temp? -
My boss is working on it and had said it was but now he came in and said "never mind manual defrost doesn't work either" sorry for the crappy details...it a 2005 Carrier Transicold model number NDL93VNC-AM-0 don't see any big letters on it
