The worst was in memphis. Im trying to get rested near the pilot (Bad move...) and this one would circle the entire truck lot rows three times a hour. Using the once is ok, twice is coincidence and three times = enemy action do something... there she was standing on my fuel tank again asking if I wanted a date through the closed window.

It was real fortunate that window was closed. There appeared to be bugs bouncing out of her ungroomed eyebrows etc.

A thousand blue beacons could not get that truck clean and thankfully I did not have to explain to wife how I got contaminated.

That was the absolute last time I ever tried to get a night sleep in Memphis. That was back in 1997.

im still trying to understand the people who always say it beats an office job, as if those are the only 2 options, you always hear "it beats the view from a cubicle" or "it beats mcdonalds", there are actually people who travel and see the country that arent drivers, those are usually people who know there arent only 2 options in life. with that said is trucking that bad, compared to what it used to be yes its getting bad, but if it somthing that suits you then do it, make the best of it, save some money and look ahead so someday your only options arent trucking or "staring at a cubicle".

In was an immature 25 year old when I began. In a matter of days it'll be my 35th birthday. I'll never regret this decision. This job, lifestyle, meeting so many cool people, coming on here, and learning, it's been great. The biggest thing, trucking has made a man out of me..and I'm grateful for this line of work

I recently ran into an old family friend, we go back 51 yrs. I told him how I run my Truck. He replied “ That must get old”. He then went on to explain his factory job.He also inflated his pay, as I had already heard all about him from his Dad.I realized he was playing the one up game, trying to impress Me. Sad. I just replied my standard answer. I enjoy it and like anything else it’s what you make of it. But I almost said” Well it’s not standing at a machine waiting for a bell to ring so I can eat or use the bathroom, but’s it’s a living. Lol That would have too mean. Meanwhile I know he’s miserable and envious. It’s good to be a Trucker. Many can’t handle the Independance, they need to be told by someone what to do every minute of their lives. Then they wonder how they got into such a mess.

Life is a mess if it is not done well.

One could argue life is a mess on my part. I choose to say that things are in order here and at some point it's moving along. Believe it or not there are small tiny little things happening, good things. Just quietly.

I do not do the one up or keeping up with the joneses. There was way too much of that wasteful crap on the east coast already. BMW this followed by a Allard that and god only knows what else. Ornaments I say. Particularly near DC which is sort of a rotting carcass to me.

If YOU are happy, there is no need to explain it to anyone. It will show. Here in Arkansas there is some poverty here and there but in things that are truly important these people are HAPPY. I remember a church service in Texas one day not far from Lancaster, you couldnt fill a tithe basket with 100 dollars on a given service but the walls were filled with people happy to be with the lord. I'll never forget it. Probably because of the chaos by the children who cannot stand a sermon meant for adults.

I remember one family. Wood stove living not far from where I am. Man works in the Rock day and part of the night because there is never enough money. Winter was nigh. I chopped him three of my sycamore hardwood trees (*About 80 feet, two feet across at base) and I hear say that wood tided them all winter that year, they did not want for heat, cooking or hot water. Which make me happy. I can always find more trees to chop if I still had a stihl big enough to do it (I usually go through the 2.4 foot bars, the 640 models or bigger) But they were trapped in a cycle of debts. So that was one winter with a small thing among others that made them happy.

The only problem I think ever was that wood only had about two months to cure. Hope it's enough. You do not want green wood in a stove. Usually takes a year.

Many folks will want their electricity and rightfully so, but it's not NEEDED. It's nice. What do I think I use it for other than to heat this room with the computer posting on here. HA....

I concur. Nice to watch a driving video without commentary, almost Zen like. I'm subscribed to the channel of a Norwegian trucker. I binge watch, some of those roads are AMAZING.
