Ignore recruiters or anyone else that's pushing dry van trucking. You'll starve to death.

Schneider does have a tanker division in Houston, but it's not true long haul trucking like you're interested in. Good place for drivers wanting to start a career in tankers though.

If you are "looking in all directions to see your options"....note that....you will have more options....if you begin your CDL job search....with one (or preferably even more) CDL endorsements: tanker, hazmat...& also...doubles/triples.

Houston is a fantastic place to live for tanker drivers. Bulk offers everything from home daily to OTR. Look around in the tanker forum and see what you think. Contrary to popular belief, not all tankers pull hazards materials. I pulled vans and reefers for 12 years before stumbling into tanks and would never go back slamming doors. Tankers till I retire.

Schneider is where I started trucking but I didn’t do bulk with them, trained as a van driver. Great company to get going with.
