Thats not always the case though. I have been driving 6 months and havent hit one thing. I'm leaving my company because I'm only making .19 cpm as a solo driver and can't support my family on that.

The number 1 killer of newbies is : Hometime!

You take someone who has been home for every evening of their life, then stick them in a truck for weeks on end, eventually the homesickness becomes too much. I'll admit that I'm at that breaking point myself. I'll run for another month or so, then start sending out resume's looking for local work.

And perhaps #2 for right now is : they didn't intend to make trucking their career in the first place.

I don't know what the help wanted section of the newspaper looks like where you live, but in my area, it looks like this.

    "Personal assistant wanted"
    "CNAs wanted"
    "Personal assistant wanted"
    "Drivers wanted"
    "Drivers wanted"
"*random job* opening at *random place*, must have a doctorate and 20 years of experience in this position"

So the options are : unemployment/underemployment, wiping butts, or driving a truck.

I am bob , just signed on with swift despite the bad reputation I have read on here , because our crop failed this year , and papa is just getting to darn old to run the place . I am used to working like a good government mule for very little pay , so this jo might be a raise , though it is better tahn getting paid more than once a year ....
