I'm not reading anything about when the Drive status must be committed. Mine has alway used 3 MPH to start the "revert-to time" but that does not mean there are not ways and secondary thresholds to stay under to preserve your time. We'll see.

Well if we have to explain it to you, you probably won't understand.

Let me try this ... a cross country run puts you at receiver at 20:00 for a 06:00 appt. You could not have gotten there any earlier without an airplane. Receiver has early arrival parking.

However the reality is the receiver takes trucks by the order in which they check in (at midnight). Receiver starts calling in trucks (in groups) at 02:00 and ends around 09:00. The doors are 3/4 mile away on the other side of building. Typical time at dock unloading is about 2.5 hours.

You were preplanned and expected to pick up at 10:00 that morning, 30 miles away. So what are you going to do? You're going to "move" to the dock and pay the lumper, and get unloaded while on Sleeper status is what you're going to do if you have a family depending on your paycheck.

These sorts of scenarios and various other scenarios with appt windows all over the clock map happen all the time in the refrigerated and grocery hauling business.

The ability not to start your 14 any earlier than absolutely necessary [with little moves down the street to a receiver (with no parking) and typically takes 3-4 hours to unload makes many weeks work where they would simply be a disaster otherwise with missed drops and pickups later because your 14 ran out 2 hours too early.

This situation happens every day for live loads. You are either too early or late with ELog. Not being able to do yard moves without triggering Duty Status change will finally break the camel's back.

Maybe Elogs will force those receivers to adopt better working practices and not abuse the drivers so much?
Remember this makes it a level playing field, all are equal.

Won't ever happen. You can maybe expect them to work faster but every organization is going to have their ideal and mandatory receiving and shipping windows, all over the clock. Trucking is about customer service first and foremost and given the competition among trucking companies for shippers, you can't be very demanding.

There's a customer I have 'heard' of lol that changed their policy of arrival no earlier than 1 hour to 5 hours. So they expect drivers to come in 5 hours early, stage in a waiting area in the Sleeper then when called to dock, creep over to the dock area in the Sleeper and get unloaded within a couple hours more or less then creep back to the staging area and walk back up to check out and then do your departure on duty and macros. These drivers are experts at the Split Sleeper Break Provision.

So what your saying is without the ability to cheat your family will go hungry.
Lol BS. your so full of crap ST .
By the way no, I'm not going to move to the door on sleeper status . im either going to do a legal 8/2 or full 10 before I move.
That preplan is going to have to be reschedule it's as simple as that. But then again I've never been sacred to tell either the company or a customer to pound sand.
I feel sorry for you guys that don't have the ability to stand up for yourself.
Oh here's another little interesting deal.
Back in 92 I ran loose leafs for six months and then went six legal . guess what? It just DIDN'T make that big of difference.
And with cost of fines today along with CSA and PSP it just doesn't make any sence.
