Neither, they pay HHG miles otherwise known in the industry as 'short miles'. They've been targeted for a class action lawsuit for years to the tune of $500,000,000 million dollars shorted off of the Swift drivers. Swift has now settled the class action, near as I can tell for about $5,000,000 which is about 1% of the original half billion dollars which was in contention.
The lawyers could have fought it out to get more (for us) but there is some stipulation that the lawyers only receive a max payout and they only asked for enough of a settlement to max out their pay rather than fight it out and pre-spend their winnings which would have surely shrunk rather than settle and get it all now.
Just spitballing, but my chunk of the $500,000,000 would have been about $22,000 bucks. I can expect just $85 bucks from the settlement. Meanwhile Swift gets to keep $495,000,000 million dollars in contention-- not a bad deal for them.
According to an article in Landline, they are going to need it as they are in financial dire straits right now-- doing everything they can to get drivers to run more miles and stay away from home. -
Gotta love the party line.
All sorts odd trivia floating around.A21CAV Thanks this. -
I thought that was Werner or is it both now?

There are a lot of "IFs" in this situation. What will the company do IF you choose to go a different route? IF you do go the way they say will you run out of fuel? although with proper fuel tanks and you should also have a map of all the possible fuel locations in this modern world there should never be situation where you can't get fuel. Its not like your in the middle of the Sahara desert is it?

I was under a tight run to Jersey last week and fueled up in Knoxville. Thanks to several people here I got a lot better route to go. I ran 619 miles in 10.5 hours with only 15 min of time left on my 14 and I was on fumes so I sent the mac for fuel and had no problem getting it....but I have a great FM that trust when I take different routes etc. I would think you are still in the earning your DM trust unless you know you have it to run their routes in the mean time.

In my nearly 5 years, I don't think I've ever spoken with a FM.

We spoke for one week when my qualcomm was down and I was on paper logs. He had to enter the mac's in and he used to drive and still does time to time.Moosetek13 Thanks this.

This is
If you're new enough not to know the answer to this but, know well enough to want to take the path of least resistance and have also checked for fuel points, then you will be a good navigator.
The routes assigned to you are based on common truck routes With shorter distance preferred, but it also judges your fuel level to automatically give you the nearest truck stop if you can't arrive to a further one, and lastly it chooses lowest fuel price at the moment it sends you a route dispatch. The system also avoids truck stops with fuel blends that dont meet the requirements.
Oh and no pilot or flying j, unless you're in San Diego lol. all I know is that Flying J and pilot scammed Swift and so Swift doesn't want to do business with them. but if you ever feel up there you'll notice that all swift drivers get 10x the points. I love it.Last edited: Oct 2, 2015
