That truck was built with the DEF tank on the wrong side, I assign no fault to the driver.

Highly unlikely, if you are actually curious I'll explain why, there are a plethora of reasons manufacturers mount on the left. The only trailers you typically see with a fuel cap on the right are rail trailers. Because they have usually a minimum of 100 gallon fuel tank that reaches across the trailer, and they tend to put a cap on both sides.

Aside from that there are diesel pumps on both sides, and he did not pull up far enough to even get to any tank that one would find on your typical highway reefer.

But as @scottied67 suggests. A truck with a Def retrofit is more likely. Only one DEF hose typically, and you gotta stick that where you can. Someone could have been to lazy/cheap/stupid to move the battery box or whatever is on the left side, and just hung it on the right.

One alternative, maybe he was airing his tires up and didn't have a proper long hose.

My money, he was to lazy to go around the other way, maybe it was a new guy. And he didn't give a fiddler's #### about what a 1000 truckers that he's never met think about him.

That's pretty much it right there.

The guy I saw fueled his truck, looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.

Hey, I was just providing a visual.

If I took a picture every time a truck has gone through something backwards... at this point fuel islands and scales aren't even funny anymore, just annoying. Interstates are still funny though.

Idiots that park like that are responsible for paid parking at truck stops.

If that were my lot, he'd be fixing it or a wrecker would be called.
