You'll see mate. Just about every shipper/receiver you'll go to will require you to shut off your engine. If you don't like it their solution is to hang out in their driver's lounge. The best thing is what I said and Man Up. what I have done in the past is sling a hammock under the trailer and sleep out there on very hot humid nights Gilligan's Island style. I try to keep my idle percentage in the single digits. If we all pull together we can cool the planet down from Global Heating. I might even suggest carrying some houseplants inside your truck and putting a planter on the catwalk and growing some vines that will encircle your truck and cancel out the carbon emissions that are spewing out the stacks.

I'll bet the Ag stations in CA and Fla would love to see a rig with stuff growing all over it, that has been who knows where!
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Man up right! I will not sleep in a hot or cold truck no matter what company I work for. If they don't like it then they can kiss my ###. No way I am going to work hard all day only to suffer at night.Buckeye 'bedder Thanks this.

I have seen 3 trucks while being stuck in Phoenix with APUs. They were all company Volvos and they were all idling at night. Maybe the APUs that Swift bought are like everything else Swift and don't work.
I haven't gotten any BS from my DM, but then again he won't respond to any of my QC messages anyway. I have received the general fleet message saying my idle percentage was among the highest in the company. I was in Wisconsin and Dwight, IL when I received the messages and it was 10 degrees for the daytime high in WI and 2 degrees daytime high in IL. I thought about replying asking how much lead time On-Road requires to thaw out my truck so I could be on-time for delivery, but didn't. -
Are you serious? Are you speaking in regards to just the idling issues, or everything in general? WTH is he doing? Have you called the Fleet Managers to make them aware of your DM's lack of response to your QC messages?
I would hate to be in a "situation" and not being able to get my DM to reply back to me.Palazon Thanks this. -
he isn't the only one, I have been solo for only a week, my dm won't answer the phone, wont return calls, and wont answer qc, I have spoke to him once. The only answers I get are from the dispatch window,
