I saw a couple of posters talk about success 'being up to the operator', and others say 'wait'. I think I can simplify that (at least IMO). If you're thinking about being free as the wind - heh - and relying on the spot market right now, forget about it. Anyone saying they are currently making good money in the spot market is a liar. However if you've already got some other options available to you, i.e. industry contacts willing to assign you some dedicated freight/some good lease options available/etc., then it may be workable.

Each week I leave home for 7 days I typically gross 7-9k and net 4500-5000.

Not the right time to jump in, market has too many trucks, not enough loads.

breaking into it right now meh, I got mine last September and barely breaking even and now the thing is breaking everything. Definitely purchase extended warranty when you buy it. And you need way more cash then just the purchase price.

If you can flatbed probably the way to go, refer dry van on load boards rates stink. But not having a truck note will greatly help your situation

I look at it like this if you can survive while market is crap then your in position when it rebounds which will hopefully come sooner then later. But yeah definitely save as much as possible

    2 months repairs
$6000/labor to MHC KW, still haven’t got that truck fixed, yet.

Wheel seal went out needed brake kit and $850 drum(got skinned on that one) but had to have it totaled $2000 with tax. Inflation man.)

$4100 on rebuilding that m11 cummins

I should make a deal for Labor bills, i usually just put it on truck repair, then parts I buy.
Mostly i can go talk to a mechanic I know and get them cheaper, so I just pay him and use his invoice and count as truck repair
