"OH SHIFT" Steel Load securement?

I saw that Video tonight on youtube, I would have had at least 2 straps choke straping that load or 2 of those chains in a choke wrap with rubber between the chains and the steel load. I also would have had a chain on the front of that load so it couldn't move forward near that easy or at all, maybe 2 chains cris-crossing each other on the front. But thats just me, better to have more than not enough in that case would have saved his truck!!

 

Belly wrap is like a belt around your waist.

 

That strap in front of the load against the truck was holding his tarp down, lol, you have to watch the whole video to the end to see that.

 

Like this chain. Some guys use two chains but I have found one works just as well. It's only snug and not intended to be a securement device.

 

What exactly is the purpose of that tarp at the front? I don't usually see smoke tarps on steel loads...

 

That's to prevent damage to the actual tarp. Those steel plates have sharp corners and if you don't pad edges like he did, your tarp is going to be all shredded up.

 

Guess I was just assuming that load wasn't getting tarped...

 

Yep it's felt padding for the tarp. Similar idea but different loadin the second picture.

 

Well it makes perfect sense if you're tarping. Not sure why I figured that wasn't getting tarped.
