Yeah there is no regulation that states a minumim time.
392.7 (a) says "No commercial motor vehicle shall be driven unless the driver is satisfied that the following parts and accessories are in good working order, nor shall any driver fail to use or make use of such parts and accessories when and as needed: Service brakes, including trailer brake connections.Parking (hand) brake.Steering mechanism.Lighting devices and reflectors.Tires.Horn.Windshield wiper or wipers.Rear-vision mirror or mirrors.Coupling devices."
Interestingly enough, it does not say its required, except in 392.7 (b), where it says intermodal equipment is required to be inspected.
I would not want to be a driver that causes an accident or death due to faulty equipment if I had not logged a PTI though... and I believe Swifts policy is one must be performed and logged daily, but dont quote me on that.
Oh what fun! Elogs

When I went through orientation, it was drilled in my head, 30 min pre trip, flag a post trip. I know that there are some companies out here, it is the opposite.
BigShrek72 Thanks this. -
Yes they (Swift) like to see 30 minutes either all at once or accumulative like 15 minutes pretrip and 15 minutes posttrip. Same thing for each one of your split sleeper breaks, 15 at the beginning and 15 at the end. As an L/O now, you need only show 15 minutes pretrip and flag post trip, they cannot violate you for that as you are no longer a Swift employee.
Getting back to elogs for a moment, what happens if you show up at the truck stop late at night and it is full, so you park off to the side and several hours later a manager type comes along and tells you to move to an available space. -
Leave it off duty, cause you are.
Texas-Nana and scottied67 Thank this. -
I agree. In a log class we were told if you're at a truckstop, terminal etc and all you're doing is parking you're off duty. If you're fueling then it's on duty not driving.
I seriously do not understand the directions for the elogs. And I don't think it's right they're telling us to use them before we can get in a class.
Yes. that was a criticism of the company..........so if there are forum spies........report me. whatever.JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
You'll get to know and love the evil "Ms Elogs" Nana...
"You are out of hours of service driving time..."
The &*)^^^*!!! I am you stinkin' *&^((^%%!!!! -
I don't want to know them well and love them. I don't even want to date them. I just want to rip the QC out and toss it off a cliff.
Okay......so I don't adapt to change easily. -
There is a bright side... you'll have someone else to curse for all of the evils in the world besides that "other guy" that cohabits your rollin' realm!
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
OH! He's going to LOVE the elogs then! LOL
*hugs ironpony*ironpony Thanks this. -
scottied67 Thanks this.
