Orientation with Swift was a really boring 2 days, Mostly alot of paper work and films. Some of the films are out dated one was explaining how to use the trip pacs still and Swift is actually using Transflo now. The motel wasn't bad I payed extra and got a single room. They feed you lunch I think it was from Subway, they give you a menu and you order what you want. And one evening we got Dominos pizza free from the motel. I just got home was out three weeks averaged around 2600 miles a week mostly drop and hook. And I was always preplanned on my next load before delivery of the load I was on. Also the Doc for the physical was very good he checked out everything and I mean everything lol. The road test was easy just around a couple of blocks and backing between two trailors, just make sure you get out and look before backing. Hope this helps everyone be safe!!

Just got home I had a good 13 days out, I went from KY to Tenn then up to St. Louis were I loaded for Phoenix, AZ were I got to see the main HQ then to ALBRQ, NM then to Denver CO and unloaded then reloaded at Coors in Golden, CO for Trenton, OH. and then the finale load from INDY to Winchester, KY. were they deadheaded me to Prestonsburg, KY were I live. I dont load until 1600 Monday in Kemper, KY which means 3 nights at home. Life is good. I have my 30 days in which is what the Dedicated fleet director told me to get in then to give him a call and he would tell me what dedicated runs are in my area. He said during orientation I could get on Sears account or maybe PPG so I may try one of them for awhile. Everyone stay safe!!

OK my first week went really well. Started last Monday 04-19-2010 departed Northern CA for Los Angeles area overnight then picked up a light load from there to Joliet IL. Got it there with time to spare even though my mentor had to drive all over LA looking for this place to do a drug test and we nearly had our load taken away, plus I40 was closed somewhere east of Winslow AZ for several hours. After Joliet drop-off we got another load from nearby there going to Columbus OH. We have been here about 48 hours waiting for a load. We turned down two loads prior to our 34 reset due to hours and turned one down this morning because it's 1100 miles and 24 hours to get there and my mentor doesn't want to sleep while I drive.

So far so good. This is a huge lifestyle change for me out here. Sleeping while the truck is running down the road is hard to do, Eating, sleeping, fueling, showering, paperwork at all odd hours of the day will be something I have a lot of adjusting to do....

Not sure if they still do it or not..but they did have a trk and trl. driving to several Swift terminals for those drivers who don't get thru Phoenix. You get a tool box, tools, xtra lights, fuses,, anyway you just get a bunch of stuff...I do recommend that you take the class...ask a lot of questions,,,really makes a difference in whether
your moving or sitting because of something as minor as a bad trl light. On-Road can get a little backed up at times..So the more minor things a driver can do, results in more miles and we all know what that leads too......$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Home for the weekend leaving out tomorrow, I have been on a Sears dedicated acount for the last 2 weeks. I have been home both weekends but my checks are not nearly as much. Some of the Sears stores are pretty tough locations to get in and out of, but all the loads are really light. I had 4 stores in North Carlina last week with only 7000 pounds and less then half a trailor load. Everyone stay safe!
