Exactly correct IMO. Innocent until proven guilty. That ticket could almost for sure be plea bargained down to a lesser speed.....say 13 over...and then report the conviction. The driver would still have a job. Now the driver is out of a job until it gets reduced.
One ticket and he is out!!!! Help!!!!

Consider it a blessing in disguise if you cant drive a truck anymore. He will be burned out of this industry and will want to be home within a few years anyway. Besides you can have a better life and make just as much money when he sits down and actually figures out the hours he is working and what he is really making.
After 15 years I have sadly come the realization that things will never be the same and are getting worse. As far as the ticket just don't listen to some people on here and see what the lawyer gets done. I was caught doing 70 in a 45 in personal vehicle 2 years ago and hired attorney who had it reduced to improper equipment and no points just the fine. Shows up on DMV report as improper equip.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
First, I hate cops. But your husband was not caught in a speeding Sting. He was speeding. Lots of us speed going down hill on a straight grade. Some even turn the engine off to get great fuel economy on the way down. You risk all the bad things that can happen. Tread can come off the tires at high rates of speed. Force equals mass times velocity squared. Speeding downhill is a lot more dangerous then your husband thinks. It is not a little thing. He could poke someones eye out.
A good lawyer will get the ticket reduced to less then five over the speed limit. Do a Google search for CDL Speeding tickets attorney in your area. Expect to spend $500 or so. Then go looking to get on with a craigslist company for a year or so. After that he can sit with the adults again.
I have never gotten a ticket in a CDL, well a warning ticket for failure to pull into the middle lane for an emergency vehicle, *case dismissed.
If he can't find a job within three weeks in this market, he isn't really looking. -
Is that always the case that 15 over is considered reckless, at least by the insurance companies? 15 over on a California freeway would put you at 70, when most of the 4 wheelers are doing 80. Most times it Hardly seems reckless to me, but I could be wrong.

16 over.
That's 16 while stopped.
It's also...
41 in a 25 zone.
51 in a 35 zone.
71 in a 55.
81 in a 65.
There is simply no excuse for speeds like these.
If he lost his job because he was so negligent, it is right!
He should be off the road.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
