If you read through to the link where I resurrected an old blog of mine and read it - you'll find that it pays pretty decent, and the information posted on the thread you linked is based on erroneous third hand stories.

 

I always tell the kids that money in your wallet means nothing. The day you can walk into a car dealership and drive away in a brand new car using just your signature is the day you will realize that your name has value. Your signature is as good as cash.
