I'll post this one #. Last week, which was a typical week, we netted $4966 after all expenses including maintenance.
We still pay income taxes on that of course, but only so much. The C Corp is the only way to go when you earn x amount in revenue.
The truck is paid for and, like I posted earlier, there is $ set aside for inframe or even truck replacement if necessary.
We got into this industry after becoming empty nesters with an eye towards retirement as we didn't have a plan for that prior to this. I can honestly report now, we are just a few years towards partial retirement and then just 2-3 years later, full retirement.

@Scoot 1971 , there's no nice way of saying this, so I'll just say it. It's not what you don't know, but what you think you know that ain't so that'll hurt you.
Using your definition, my "net" last week was right at $7,000. My real net was closer to $2,000.
You don't know your numbers. You can't say you "net" something when you don't include things like depreciation, wages, taxes, all fuel, and the whole rest of the litany.
Take some basic accounting. It may just save your business. -

Wifey has her business managment degree from that school in Texas' Brazos valley known for agriculture. I dont have a degree but have plenty of sense. She handles all the #'s while I keep an eye on bottom line.

Your operating costs aren't 42 cents per mile. Not when running a semi. Your labor is more than 42 cents. Your fuel is more than 42 cents per mile. Your insurance / permits / registration on top of that. Plus, plus, plus, plus. plus.

" Depreciation" on a truck that's worth 30k means nothing to our operation as we can readily inframe motor or replace as needed. These things are typically referred to as "operational costs".

My net I posted was indeed our net, not revenue.
My football team has not done well as of late, but our business has.
That $4966 was our weekly net. That's a fairly typical #, sometimes more and sometimes less but our average is just over $4500. That number starts with revenue minus fuel, various costs , 10cpm towards maintenance and various fees as we are leased onto a carrier. That maintenance account is our own savings account.
Our revenue is typically 7-8 thousand per week. That, obviously, is the starting number.
After all expenses, all expenses!, this is are typical net $. This is the amount deposited into are account. We pay income taxes on that and social security and Medicare taxes are paid based on our stated salary.
