Oranges ruined from frozen temp?

I picked up a load of sunkist oranges and set the reefer to 38 degrees and parked and went to sleep. When I woke up the temperature was 22.
Either the reefer was faulty (the guy I drive for's equipment isn't the greatest) or someone sabotaged me over night.

The oranges were at a frozen temperature overnight, and I immediately turned it back to 38. Do you think the oranges are damaged or ruined in anyway from an over night at 22

 

Don't say anything at the receiver; you might luck out.

 

Depends how they temp out internally at your consignee. And what they look like. I imagine they will check.

 

Since the reefer was at 22 for only a few hours, you might luck out and everything is OK.
But, I'm of the same opinion as the others, don't say anything. Like Schultz from Hogan's Heroes used to say: "I know nothing!"

 

They don't even need to pulp it. Just pick one up, if it's soft it's been frozen and thawed. There will be space at the top of the boxes where they have settled.

 

Quite possible, they may notice deterioration during inspection, but Don't volunteer anything. If they want s download on your reefer, your going to have a problem. Good luck.

 

Just tell em you were craving some Orange Sunkist Popsicles....because their juice probably frozen inside

 

AND if the load has a temp tale, they will see the temp drop and reject.

 

Most likely they didnt freeze if it was only a few hours and it would take a more time than that for the whole load to freeze. More than likely the only damage will be near the end of the shute.

Most sheds put temptales on the loads now - so depends on the placement of the temptale.

Really depends on how sharp the receiver is…​
