I've never hauled citrus before, so please forgive my ignorance. I usually haul more sensitive commodities because they pay so much more.
I'm at a shed that wants to load oranges at 65 pulp and have me run it at 40. The receiver has already signed off on it but I'm still worried about my unit freezing or just plain working to death. The load delivers in 5 days. Should I be worried?

Set it where they want it.....Soon as your loaded and close your doors Open your vent door...,as you get in set unit up to 58 continuous.....ride for an hour and check...,if it's close...drop 3-5 degrees more..,.continue process.,...till(if u ever) get to 40
Normal procedure If you leave it at 40 Unit is gonna work its ### off building moisture defrosting (and of course raising temp in doin so) and might never get down.,,,,.
Done it hundreds of time....weather u ever get to 40!depends entirely on how far your going and moisture content of fruitMagnumaMoose, Farmerbob1, BoostedTeg and 3 others Thank this. -

Is the pulp at 65F at loading gonna save him....?Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
Farmerbob1, ReeferRick and Cat sdp Thank this.

You only need rear vent......it allows the flow out of the shoot to move the hot air out as it rises in wagon.....front vents serve different purpose....as for temp on arrival....as long as pulp temp at loading marked and signed your good....cooling all sorts of loads en route is nothing new....have a safe trip
MagnumaMoose, 7-UP, ReeferRick and 1 other person Thank this. -

Yea as long as it's noted and all parties know the deal just run it. Not a lot different than watermelon right out of the field. It's hearty enough it is fine. I haven't done much of these in quite some time now...enjoying life on the frozen side of things...
Farmerbob1 and LandslideRich Thank this. -
