Ltl was my out, I'm not making over 1k a week anymore, but I'm only working 40-50 hrs Monday to Friday now, with holidays, paid time off/sick days and all kinds of stuff that I didn't have at my other local job where it was straight cpm pay.

Yes and no. If his only alternative is to work for $9 an hour by the house then I guess you can say he is forced to be a trucker in order to provide for the family.

Cut some slack for the little boy; he just wants your attention. Lots of hugs and hold him close while watching tv or whatever you do during leisure time.
I went through that and my wife said I'm too easy on them. I wanted them to be happy to see me and not worry about getting fussed at. Everything worked out just fine.

I just finished school and I'm about to walk into a similar situation. For me it's been years of construction picking up short term gigs then extended layoff (i.e. we don't need so many people now jobs are done) Sure I'm home but we have struggled a fair bit. At the end of this year I will have been employed just over 5 months of 2016. Being away from the boys is gonna suck but I ain't living long like this either. People say slave wages but try doing unemployment half the year. It's a huge step up for me. I haven't made this kind of money since I was in the military over ten years ago.

I drove the Home Weelends gig while our children were growing up. We kept the kids busy playing sports and with Boy/Girl Scouts and the like. I worked with them on the weekends to help them improve whatever sport they were in or on Scout projects. The busier a kid is the less they will miss you. I also called every night and talked to all 3 kids after the wife and I talked, that way if there was a problem with one of the kids I could correct it.

It sounds to me like your 6 yo is acting out to get your attention when you are home. He probably does not realize that it is very selfish of him to act that way so a good Father and son outing would be a good time to explain this to him.

If the kid is red headed, beat him like a red headed step child.

You can't do that anymore you go to jail for "disciplining"your children you know the kind we got when we were kids. Now the current generation and my generation in some cases wants to negotiate with their kids. And then you go to work and you can't negotiate a raise.
