Next time San Simone tells you to do that, get the name of the officer(if it is actually an ADOT Enforcement Officer and not just a private contractor sitting in the booth asking for registration and IFTA.). PM me with the name of the officer, I see their Lieutenant and Captain every few weeks. If its not a real officer, tell them to show you a badge or shut up...

    281ric and SHC Thank this.

BTW, most of the private contractors know nothing about law. They see trucks roll through their scale all day with flags on the front bumper because New Mexico requires it and every truck they see just came from New Mexico. Another option for you is politely (thats the important part POLITELY) agree to flag up, go do it, when you come back to tell them its done, ask them to tell you the ARS (Arizona Revised Statute) number that you can find that rule under.

    SHC Thanks this.

Maybe its just me, but I think that might be pointlessly escalating things a bit, ya know?

A lot of people say a lot of stupid things, we all know that. I wouldnt risk coming back with a smart remark to anybody who could even potentially get me in deep with the law. Its hard enough to keep a clean record when you are trying to!

We have our signs made by a local sign shop. They're on a rigid 1/8" plastic with OVERSIZE LOAD on one side and the "D" sign on the other. Not are they reflective, but they have to be the right grade of reflective to go into Nova Scotia, day or night.
To answer the question... "D" signs are required east of Ontario and OVERSIZE signs aren't recognized. From Ontario west I believe you can run either "D" or OVERSIZE. These are older pictures. The last couple years we started mounting most of our plates on a piece of angle bolted up through the bottom of the bumper and spaced out an inch or so. It leaves room to set the sign behind the plate, and it's a good backup to keep the sign off the ground, in case a bungee breaks.
