I have some very specific questions, and concerns, regarding an oversize shipment into Telluride, CO.

If any members here live close to, or in the location, I'm willing to compensate for any information -

There will be 60+ loads going to the location, and , for the sake of the team, and general public, I'd like this to go smoothly.

Please PM me, or reach out as you may.

This may require tape measures on the ground, local scouting - so I can contact local road/city authorities to make it work.

Again - happy to compensate for time/knowledge.

    Cheers - Blair.

    To Hell You Ride!

I lived in Durango Co. for several years, had several customers that lived in Telluride. Odd folks to say the least, and a strange town to visit. Good Luck!

Well Blair, I've been there, but I don't remember enough to be of any help. I could make a weekend out of it though if it helps. Would you be coming up from Cortez (route permitting)?

Only one way in or out of telluride, CO 145.
You’re probably going to have to come in from the Cortez side. Better road situation than coming from Montrose. You have to use 62, that’s a bit narrow. Not sure if something significantly oversized could make it through Ridgway. Would not be surprised if you will be required to have state troopers. All depends on the size. Height wise, other than trees, can’t think of any problems. Width and height wise the only places that could be problematic are the resorts. Mostly due to the entry monuments/signage. Length could be a problem in a few places, more a risk of grounding out on road transition. It definitely is making the commitment to the run. Normal speed limit drive time from Cortez is about 2 hours. Not a lot of services along that route, same for stopping points.

Almost forgot about the roundabouts. Telluride has some.

This the route the state wants or?
Better look at street view of Ridgeway,CO. See where 62 comes off 550.
You will run right down the middle of town. It’s only a 2 lane.

1st, a bit too far for my 4 cylinder Jeep to buy you lunch. I feel we had a bit of a kerfuffle on the last post, I hope there's no hard feelings. 2nd, cops are out for blood here, they have to be, it's the busiest season, in the most sought after location. Troopers are stopping local garbage trucks, for heavens sake. Be aware, patience runs thin, and state law, you must pull over if the vehicles behind you are 6 or more. I never knew that, but very important to know in a 4 cylinder Jeep. I don't get "over the hill"( Monarch Pass) much, far as I'm concerned, Colorado ends there. Be careful, and no, it's not all stoned idiots running over things. A bigger problem is distracted driving, but welcome to Colorado!!!

I always go 160 to 145, Cortez to Dolores, over Lizard Head, to Telluride. Couple tight turns dropping down into town, but still plenty of room. Think there's overlooks on several, so there's extra room on those turns.

No way I'd go down 550. I would think you'd have axles hanging well out into the abyss

That turn is OK, I'll need to take up all the real estate. The middle of town is OK too, I'll only be 18" off either side. It's the length that is bothering me.
