By the way DEF is heavy. But most trucks only hold 10-25 gallons.
Don't let it get low ever.

Because you don't want to run out.
And it will take it it out of the weight equation.

Sounds about right. 5th wheel center point weight dynamics and trailer tandem weight dynamics don’t quite work under the same applications.

I have suspension pressure gauges on all my trucks and trailers. They tell me the weights pretty well.

They’re nice to have but when you get that close to your maximum gross, I can’t trust them explicitly other than to get close prior to scaling. When you’re far from a convenient scale and can’t trust the stated weights completely, they’re worth every penny, a hundred times over.

Once you pass the west bound scales at Cheyenne pull into the first truck stop and fill that truck to 3/4 tank and trailer clear full up... You will burn all that off before the next scale which is in UT... I've had to do similar before but headed the other direction.

And a word of caution regarding the Cheyenne I-80 scales for this weekend at least, pulling out, there is an abrupt 4 inch drop off when merging back onto interstate due to repaving operations there

I cussed that paving crew severely Saturday morning.

In my time, I would have rolled with what you have and just kept my fuel purchases to a minimum.

Eh.. it's a crude tool today.

What you really want is reliable load cells on every axle at each wheel. You will know your gross, axles etc down to the pound at wheel. And if equipped on trailer, you can fire a laser to measure kingpin and slide until legal in kingpin bridge law.

IF you went into lunch at nogales, came back 5 pounds heavy someone slipped drugs on your rig.
