i have seen quite a few folks ads for folks either selling or looking to buy their own authority to avoid the high insurance premiums in year 1. I have heard of premiums as high as $34K in year with most costs around the $20K but saw one reported as low as $8K. So my question is what is the true value of having your own authority? I have a few other questions but I’m holding those back now to avoid a side bar and sticking to one subject.
$300 to me.... but I guess 1/2 of what someone might save on the insurance new entrant vs established carrier.
There are two values, one is a perceived value based on age and another is a real value based on what the company or carrier brings with a sale. The authority itself isn't worth much but if there are tangible assets like trucks and non-tangible assets like contracts/customer list, then the value is based on those items.
I understand the asset part of it but I couldn’t figure out why people selling the authority or looking to buy an existing one.
Authority is worth $300. It’s what you do with it that might add value from there. Kind of like poker. $300 ante and then it’s all about your skill and how you manage capital
