    I called Rapid Response about a year and a half ago complaining about not being reimbursed for scale tickets. The person I talked to over there said lease operators are only reimbursed for the scale ticket if instructions to scale a load is included in the load assignment message on the qualcomm.

    Swift's Phoenix yard in particular is not interested in the least to see our scale tickets any more when we tcall loads there, they have a designated 'scale nazi' who will meet you over on the Phoenix scale to witness your weight first hand and staple their scale ticket to the tcall BOL. Too many drivers were turning in 'legal' tickets for overweight trailers California bound, ie, they would slide the tandems back to legal then slide them back to 40' and tcall the the load and boom Swift driver gets popped for overweight and past 40' mark in Cali.

    otherhalf doesn't exactly know the full scope of the lease apparently.

    i know exactly what i'm spouting about. you basically aid the same thing in a long winded version.

    you've apparently been driving 4 years longer then me. so you should know full well what happens in those lease scams.

    and since you wanted to mention the buyout. like i said. they'll never own the thing. cuz what's the buyout? 70k roughly. where are they gonna get the money if they could. and who in there right mind would pay that kind of money for a truck that isn't worth that much.

    I know the Swift lease 100%....I was a L/O for 8 years at Swift, my choice, I didn't want to "own" outright my own truck, I was content, and successful with my choice.

    No, you are missing the exact point of my rebuttal to your statement. You said;
    You can't assume they will never own that truck, they have the option to buy it outright at any time during and immediately at the end of the lease contract. And in my second response I qualified the difference between renting and leasing....these are specific time period (beginning and ending dates) leases, not month to month, or long term rental....there is a huge difference.

    I know quite a few O/O, TRUE O/O that don't scale their loads.

    I obviously know better than you, I don't make statements about leasing, or lease contract out of hearsay conversation, I was a L/O, I know and understand the contracts, and which ones are scams and which ones have the potential for a driver to be more successful in a lease than as a company driver. And Swift used to be a ticket to a successful lease, not anymore, but at one time they were. Yet, there are still a few successful, satisfied with where they are, L/O's with Swift.

    My buyout on my first truck was going to be 27,500, and on my second (W900L) 38,250...after financing costs (thru IEL [Swift]) the total buyout cost would have been 43,700....so once again your 70K "estimate" is out of whack. Most likely an assumption you made without getting the legitimate information, just going on truck stop coffee clutch banter.

    Plus, you assume, that every driver, Swift, England, Stevens, or any other lease operator isn't savvy enough to set up a savings plan to enable a buyout at the end of a lease....not necessarily true at all.

    I don't understand your obvious "anger" or "hate" of Swift or of any L/O using the term Owner Operator....granted it isn't technically true, we know that, but these companies use that term from day one, these youngsters getting into this business don't know the difference, and frankly don't care....so why push the issue? You know what they are, you know what their real title is....just let em have their feeling of "being special".....you need to learn to overlook some things and just let them slide once in a while....what does it hurt you when they assume a title?

    Nope ... double checked my Schedule C. Only name on the form is mine. So I must be the owner of my business ... didn't know that actually owning the capital assets of a business is a prerequiste of being considered the owner of the business.

    BS aside ... Steve's issue is a Swift specific issue. Swift calls us O/Os. We all know the myopic sensitivites of some of the members on this board. But for the sake of ease when discussing Swift issues on the Swift sub-forum, we tend to use the recognized corporate designations ... sorry if it got some people's panties in a bunch.

    Back to our originally scheduled programing ...

    Any time you tcall, the load is over 35K and you need to submit a scale ticket with the tcall, you will get reimbursed. Just submit like any other receipt. Even at Phoenix, even though they make you reweigh, you will still get reimbursed for your scale ticket.
