Well ... Since we are off track and Steve has his answer.

What the heck do you call me? I finished my lease and now I'm buying a truck through IEL - not lease to own - buying. Sales tax, interest rate, amortization schedule ... no lease involved.

he's not leased to a company becuase he's not renting or buying or whatever you want to terminology the phrase.

he's contracted now. with his own truck. even though he's still financing. just not in the typical lease terms.

If I may chime in here. I just t-called a light load in Phx, when I got there I went thro insp lane, dropped trl then found out that no matter what the wt was on the bol, it needed to be scaled out by someone on the yr and the tandems checked for the bridge law. what b.s., I had to go, reconnect to the trl, scale it, and then drop it again and then walk my ppw to the window to tcall it.

This is B.S. how they expect you to know this little rule, when no sign is posted anywhere, and I even asked the 'talking monkey' in the insp lane where to drop this tcalled trl, and he didn't even have the sense enough to ask if it was going to kali, cause if it had asked, I would have said yes, then would have found out this stupid rule that only the Phx term has for a tcall ld going to kali.

I am mad because I have done a 1000 tcalls at almost every term, and phx has the rule in place that unless you know it, 1 out of 12000 drvr's, you find out the hard way.

    what b.s. in my opinion.

This is what I am saying, they have a "designated scale nazi', but unless you know this little fact or rule, you can be screwed. The scale nazi said to me after I btched that at least you'll know what to do next time, haha. I said yeah, stay out of phx and don't ever tcall here again!

What other items do l/o's get reimbursed for load loadlocks? Lumpers? Tolls? Parts for trailers?

I'm with you, it has gotten to the point for me I won't go into terminals any more. Some of the things that have happened to me are-

    1. Tcalled a load, got another preplan but no empty trailers on the yard and went in to ask about maybe they have customers I can go to? She curtly told me to go back to my truck.

    2. Picked up an trailer at a customer drop and hook, it had a light out up top, breakdown says 38 miles from the terminal, take it there for fix. OK that was 38 miles the wrong way and I was sitting at the Petro. Sorry charlie, they said, so I had to eat those miles. I called DM about it she only offered 10 miles each way paid.

    3. Got it to the terminal they went ahead and did a whole inspection, sanded down the bumper and painted, replaced some tires and brakes etc. Meanwhile it's pouring down rain, I cannot go into my truck in the shop, cannot go into the lounge because I have my dog. PITA

    4. Of course the #1 rule is never go into a terminal if you have an empty trailer, you'll never get back out the gate with it without a preplan.

I think next time I will just pay out of pocket to get the light fixed or buy a cheap used tire if it needs it, cheaper time, miles and sanity wise than going into terminals.

Yes loadlocks, lumpers and tolls are reimbursed. However I think the toll road around Denver will not be reimbursed and company drivers are instructed to stay off it.
If something is wrong with your trailer, contact breakdown via macro 55 and explain the problem. Someone will call you and figure out what to do about it. Usually you'd take it to a repair place or they would dispatch a mobile repair service to your location. Swift will give you a reference number to pay for the repair, do not pay for it yourself.

Man scottie ... we've had the same DMs and my experiences tend to be the polar opposite of yours. I had a trailer rejected at Coors. Didn't go further then the TA at Wheatland to get it fixed. Westbound on I10, stopped in Eloy, noticed a light out was fixed right there at the TA.

I agree never, ever take an MT into a terminal. As for E470, it's camera pay - no toll boths - don't know about company drivers, but I use it all the time as well as the camera pay tollways in Texas. Nobody has ever said squawk to me about it. But I look at it his way, they short me miles, that are based on that route, I'm usiing it.

A plus for the Swift lease is that they do cover all expenses, toll, load locks, lumpers, base plates etc. You're only obligated for your payment, insurance, IFHUT, fuel and routine maintenance as long as you are under warranty .

I learned the hard way, never pay out of pocket for anything! I won't go in to it here, I would run out of room on cyberspace if I did, and it would shut the whole internet down. lol

But seriously, if you pick up or are at a place that has a defective trl, then call onroad, tell them its a DOT item and illegal to move, if possible.

I agree, what these terms are doing is laughable with their so-called versions of a 'quick lane', that you can end up sitting in for several hours at a time.

About your pet, maybe its because I have a cat, but they always everywhere I have ever had maintainance done, allowed me to leave it in the trk. And since you situation was that the trl was being fixed, why couldn't they let you leave your dog in the trk, instead of making you take it with you?

I do have to say one thing in Swifts credit, the number of trl's that I pick up with a defect has really fallen, I never seem to get one anymore. I know I shouldn't say that, but I think that there is a higher quality of maintainance being done to our trl's than it used to be in the past. IMHO

And to comment on MysticHZ about trl's needing a Coor's insp, that is a joke. Its nice miles with a light load (if you get empty cans), but the hassle of finding a trl 'worthy' enough for Coor's, is almost next to impossible. And as far as pulling a beer load, forget it! Never in a million yrs, would I put up with that hassle, no way.
