Unfortunately i dont know any more info, they said they will cover all insurance fees etc themselves. I never was a driver before so that the only thing that got my attention, company on MY NAME but i will use their truck and will transport their cargo. It is obvious their trucks are not big rigs because they hire anyone with D license not CDL.

    1. A Class A CDL License is required when the Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Ratings (GCVWR) of the truck and trailer totals 26,001 or more provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
    2. A Class B CDL License is required for any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
    3. A Class C CDL License is required for any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B, but is either designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, or is placarded for hazardous materials.

I wonder if his questions would be cleared up in the Expeditor and Hotshot Trucking Forum? Sounds like this is what they're asking him to do?

Well, discarding a post after a paragraph or sentance indicated a state of mind refusal to communicate like adults. Im sorry you feel this way.

Remember Im always open to correction. Hot shots is something I never do, but have had to deal with constantly out there on the road. They are truckers like I am just the same.

The least you can do is sit and write out why I am wrong and cite chapter and verse. Remember you got a young one here trying to learn and watching two us old bulls butting heads is a total turn off.

Settle down sir. Let's help him.

That's not just fishy, that's a mass die off on the beach rotting in the sun. They want you to drive THEIR equipment, but now you need to be an O/O!!???

The best business deals aren't the ones you make, they're the ones you walk away from. In this case your best option is to RUN, don't walk.

No shortcuts in this business without paying a heavy penalty. Run away from this outfit. Go get your CDL and learn your trade the RIGHT way.

Im making a copy of this and keep this for more of the hotshot questions down the road. That should cut out the bull from those who think IM doing something wrong.

    Thank you kindly.

I think the confusion lies in the fact that none of us have ever heard of an arrangement like this. I personally wouldn't do it simply because.....well it's weird. Their truck but your company? Makes no sense unless I'm completely missing something.

There are plenty of hotshots making good money serving the oil patch. For what they carry most need a CDL, medical card, tanker, and Hazmat endorsements. Most own their own truck and either own or lease the trailer. They make good money because it is high tariff freight.

What kind of freight does that company haul, and how are they compensating you? Sounds like they want you to pay for fuel and issue a 1099 perhaps? Is it paid on a percentage of gross? By the hour? By the mile?

That is exactly what i was thinking, everything sounds ok, but where is the logic? i just want to be a company driver and they hire only if i register company on my name, get my DOT number on my name, use their truck and transport their cargo as well and consequences for me? taxes? liability? etc.
