It isn't depressing, it's quite the opposite. The last several posts have given me good laughs.

I especially enjoy reading how a owner operator can make a profit but not a fleet owner. I guess the theory is the oo doesn't have to pay driver wage?

Everyone of these guys that are salivating to haul for amazon will lower the rate per mile from the previous guy just to be able to haul for cheap amazon.

I could thank you a million times for that post. So true all the newb O/O pulling for 2.00-2.50 and think they struck gold. Their heads would explode if they found out our gravy 4.60/mi on 325 mi and only 6k in the box. Come home empty and grab another 1500$ load. I sleep in my own bed every night and since we still run loose leaf if I get held up I can make look right.

@gokiddogo @spyder7723 and so many people keep asking how to pull for amazon. Ignorance is bliss I guess???

Fellas, Jeff Bezos doesn't make 8.9 mil an hour because he is generous with pay. I've pulled Amazon before as a company driver several times and I can confirm what the others have said. Your time means nothing. I've heard of companies doing well pulling these loads but you have to ask yourself...compared to what? Here is how it goes. Once you actually get inside the fence you'll sit and wait while they throw boxes. Every dock is a different destination and they want to put as much on it as possible before it leaves. Since you are talking about a small operation, you aren't going to have anything pre-loaded. The boxes going down the line may or may not be going to your trailer so even if those dock workers are working hard for their money you might be there for a while. I hope you brought a sandwich.

This is a quote from Business Insider

"At the annual earnings rate Business Insider calculated — again, an estimation based on the change in his Forbes net worth year-over-year — Bezos has earned $6.54 billion a month, more than $1.5 billion a week, and more than $215 million a day in the last 12 months.

Per hour, he earns a whopping $8,961,187 million — that's roughly 315 times Amazon's $28,466 median annual worker pay. An Amazon worker earning the $15 minimum wage would need to work about 597,412 hours, or 24 hours a day for about 68 years, just to earn what Bezos makes in one hour."

I didn't mean to sound ####y but it gets my goat these guys were used to making squat and think pulling a 200 mi for 725 is a good rate. Its still a full days work by the time you load it and kick it off your out of hours. Think daily rate. Aim for 1000-1200 or more. I drive for my dad we get 7 loads a wk. He 59 and doesn't want to run as hard as he did when he was younger. 10,500 a wk. I get 30% of 1500 so I make a 1350 one wk and 1800 the next. I'm happy he's happy and makes a hefty profit. We refuse to haul cheap.that's why deadhead back 325 miles. Equipment is paid for. Rebuilt his 93 and bought the 99 a week before his died. Basically took off from the beginning of June til October. Most of these new guys would be out of business if they were out of work that long. Even a full blown rebuild would be the nail in the cofen for some

And that's not being hooked up direct we go threw a broker so you that rate must be 1800 or better. Not all brokers are scum. 2 brothers in their late 20s and early 30s run it and have half a dozen company trucks.

Ok I'm done ranting, sipping on some single malt will do that to me

I've done several for a mega that weren't and spent more than a few hours after getting into the yard. If the load is paying good money and you can take Amazon then by all means. Just be prepared to lose about 3-4 hrs and make sure you are still in the green if that happens. I understand that they move a lot of freight, but check your options before you decide to bet the farm on pulling Amazon 100%.
