Have a brand new W900 Paccar MX13 510HP. Is there a break in period on these, that at a certain amount of miles they actually gain more power. Almost like engines being held back a little?

I have a 15 model, seemed like it started to wake up after the first valve adjustment at 60,000. Every day after that seemed to improve up to about 90,000.
Is it in a W900 B, or L? -
It’s at full power now .....lol.

Smoking Gun: Emails Show Volvo Trucks Initiated EPA’s Rigged Testing of Glider Trucks
Would be nice to see brand new Cats in 2020 KWs etc. Looks like Volvo rugged the glider evaluation test to sell more of their new truck & engine combos.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
510/1850 is the max factory setting for a Paccar MX-13. You might get a little more between 50,000-100,000 if you keep it pulling all the time (no cruise), but they are fairly gutless motors compared to 15-litre alternatives.
They only really wake up if you remove the thing choking them off. -
The MX-13 I had at Magnum felt gutless, but honestly, I found myself passing more vehicles on hills than I would have imagined. So, it was pulling, but it didn't have that snap of boost like some of the previous engines I have driven. It was a broader powerband.

My t680 has the 510 / 1850 MX13, and I have to agree. Even at max weight (88K) across Oregon, we still kept up with traffic, and were faster up the hills than most. She doesn't feel snappy, but she pulls really well.
Only complaint is that she starts vibrating around 1200 RPM, so I grab a gear when I get down there, but then again, I don't like pulling down that low anyway.
I do love the wide power band. Compared to the 500 hp 60 series I drove before, it's way more forgiving to drive, and though the HP rating is the same, the MX13 pulls WAY better. Generally two gears up the hill.KB3MMX, Onemanshow and larry2903 Thank this. -
As a former Rush Truck Center mechanic, I highly recommend a few things to you; whatever you do avoid unnecessary idling- this leads to excessive soot collecting in the DOC and DPF causing a parked regen (which may not work for you) or a derate.
Also, I recommend giving it back and getting a w900 with the Cummins X15...KB3MMX Thanks this. -

I'm looking at a 2016 579 with 450k. mx13 manual. Turn it into a 10 wheel dump. Any thoughts on this truck for the job.
