Hurst, thanks very much for your useful post. I've bought a lot of the same peripherals, especially last year. I had some problems with that peashooter turbo on the Detroit 60s 14L engine, but it was everything else but the turbo itself, charge air cooler burst, hoses leaking, clamps not clamping, like that. New radiator and hoses, water pump and tubes, and yes, I too bought a new clutch rod, came with my nice new Eaton clutch, fortunately before mine broke off at that bushing. Special order, new rod was $150, waiting 4 days over the weekend? Priceless!

I believe I'll keep going the way I am now, unless something I can't foresee happens. (always allow for the things we can't predict, right?) I like my Columbia, and besides, I can walk around in there at night without killing my toes, and if I get a new truck, I'll probably hurt myself.

    Grijon Thanks this.

Truck has 1.1 million miles and you're excited that you just paid it off, why? You should be paying cash for used up equipment that has that kind of miles.

Well you know what they say about the truth. Besides it seems kinda narcissistic to make thread telling everyone how happy you are about paying off a truck worth 20k.

We should all be running for $3+ mi, telling insurance companies what we need and want and at a price we want. We should all be able to get everything we need done in a reasonable time and not feel tired all the time. We should all be able to run short local hauls and be home every night.

What we should do and what reality often is do not always jive. He's out here surviving and thats a lot more than I can say for so many others who post on here who have no idea what they are doing.

And what exactly is the truth?

What difference does it make what the truck is worth? I've got a $17k truck pulling a $30k trailer, yet I earn as much if not more than you or anyone else out here.

Interested in what your logic is.

Yeah, that's a real smart comment there, nofreetime. Please try to understand that the truck didn't have 1.1 million miles on it when I bought it. DId you read as far as the "clean oil analysis" comment? Not so used up after all. And I'll thank you to run your own business, and I'll run mine, and I'll pay in any way I want without any direction from you or anybody else.

Thanks again for your intelligent remarks.
