How doesn't it affect your 14?

I have never really had a issue with elogs, always been good to roll when needed and slept when tired.

Yeah, not very flexible. E-log or paper, I still miss the old split sleeper berth we had back before all this HOS mess got started.

I think he meant it doesn't affect your 11. Of course, it will affect your 14, but one has to consider that one has 3 hrs of wiggle room in that 14 to pull off 11 hrs of driving. There is no reason why one could not pull over and take a short siesta and still pull off 11 hrs driving. I do occasionally. E-logs don't stop me from doing this just like paper doesn't stop me. And if I happen to snooze a little longer than I planned, as long as it is a 2 hr period, I then only have to take a 8 hr sleeper berth later instead of a full 10. Just a more restrictive version of the old split sleeper game we used to play years ago.

20 years of paper logs, and now 14 months of people net, the old version.

I absolutely hate paper logs now. Hate 'em. But I do dedicated stuff.

I've never done OTR on elogs nor would I ever. I agree though, works just fine with dedicated.

That's not true the 8/2 split can stop your 14 but not reset your 14 as it states you need 10 consecutive hours to reset your 14.As far as taking a nap yea rules are great for drop and hooks and long distance but try running ltl reefer and you'll see the problems 11 hours isn't the problem it's the 14 hour running clock which is my point one shoe doesn't fit all.

I just want to say this:

there is a new article out that explains the new rules for OO's regarding elogs...

OO's are claming that elogs force them to drive tired, which makes zero sense to me if they are actually sleeping during their 10 hour break, if you can't stay awake for 14 hours after a good nights sleep, you should not be a truck driver. period.

OO's are claiming that those small naps they take (during their 14, but not logged as such) are allowing them to drive safer, while I have to ask, why do you need that short nap to begin with? If you were not fudging your books, you would have gotten a full rest before you started that new 14h.

In general, OO's are claiming that its actually less safe to be doing Elogs compaired to illegal logs, and they are very open about it too, open about driving illegally.

    So my question is:

Are these the same #### idiots I see going 75mph+ in 65mph or lower speed zones? Are these the same idiots I see getting right up on the ### of the vehicle in front of them to "force" them out of the way? Are these the same idiots I see laying up in the ditch with their load all over the road causing a 5 mile backup? Are these the same idiots who always be parking in "no parking" zones for their short "naps"

If so, then I hope all those idiots quit driving altogether because they make the roads much more dangerous for all.

So you make the argument, you started your clock at 2am, get to the shipper at 0230, then they tell you the load isnt going to be ready for another 10 hours? check this out.......#### HAPPENS. call your disptach, tell them to find you another load and have somebody else pick that one up, ....if that is not an option then find a proper option. but running illegal is not the proper option. nor is it a good excuse to run illegal.

So you make the argument, you got stuck in heavy traffic, and wanted to pull off the side of the road for a break,.....if that was rush hour traffic,.......thats your ###### fault for getting caught in it,....rush hour doesnt change on a daily basis, you know its there, you know what times are good and what times are bad. if that was caused from an accident or road construction, then thats just another "#### HAPPENS" deal, its nobody's fault. but using that as an excuse to run illegal is asinine.

The only argument I can side with the OO"s about this is the cost factor, if they have to pay quite a bit up front, then I can see their beef with that. But all the other excuses for not wanting to get on ELOGS is 100% ########.
