Great info everyone , I am in Indiana and you must do the parallel parking to get your CDL.
I am in a sleeper tractor and 53 ft trailer.
I can to it on the practice area , straight line, off set and parallel parking to the right and the left.
But we have a testing site right where we are and it seems a little different. Both right and left sides , I would not pass because the back end of the bottom of the trailer was hanging over the yellow line at the aft side.
Most people say you probably wont use it but maybe a few times , if that.

Driving out on the road is no problem , I have drove 300 plus miles in all type of traffic and road conditions.
Seems pretty stupid they want a rookie like me to get this thing in there perfect with only 2 pull ups and 2 get outs.

Oh well it is what it is. Thanks again for the input !

I liked to shoot the trailer for the rear outside corner of the parking space. the furthest corner. You want the middle of the trailer to be heading right for the furthest corner. (it seems like you will be going too far back before you start parking the tractor, but not quite)Once the trailer tires went passed the parking, line then you just need to park the tractor like you would when paralleling in your car.

Spread axle trailers are a bit different, but should get you close enough to get the hang of it.

I failed this #### parallel 3 times before I figured it out and passed with ease the 4th time lol. Do you know if your blindside or drivers side parallel parking?

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Wont know until I test and finish my straight line backing. After I complete that and it is good then he will tell me to do a right or left off set and if it is a right then I will also be doing a blind side. eft will be drivers side.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
