Path for New CDL holder (no experience)?

Get all the endorsements, especially hazmat.
Even reefer companies sometimes haul hazmat loads, such as a load of paint.
Specialized companies haul the really hot hazmat stuff so you won't be dealing with any of that.

 

South Dakota is a good choice. Low tax state and no personal state income taxes. That saves a ton of money over a working life.

 

Since you want to move to another state, reefer outfits that run OTR probably the best fit for you. I listed a couple earlier. There's always a need for reefer drivers nationwide because they haul food and medicines.

 

This company sometimes hires new cdl school grads. Has hired some from Florida and may still have a facility in Lakeland.

From what I understand, hiring has slowed in Florida, but that could change.

I would suggest getting some kind of experience before doing any kind of tanker jobs. Your a HUGE risk for disaster, being NEW.
