I'm on par to make more than that with Ozark and I'm looking at about 60 days off for the year. They are great about hometime.

Good for you. I won't bring you down by pointing out what could be better. Keep working hard and keep your eyes open for better opportunities. For all you naysayers stick it in your ### for trying to bring a working man down.

If you're happy that's all that matters but your title is not accurate .

That pay is not good but I'm in the same boat with my company . I made $68k last year (2017) but I lived in the truck and averaged under $200 per day . That is not good !

I could work less hard and make less money, sure, but I'm single with no kids. When I am on the road, I'm not there to sit at truck stops.

With a year at Crete, I can now add two weeks paid vacation to my year, and vacation, if I remember right, is paid as an average of what you have been making per week, not a fixed rate.

I also was not eligible for the profit sharing this year, but will be next year. The more miles you drive, the more of a share you earn.

But the main reason for posting this was to show that you can make 60k plus per year at Crete as a driver with little experience. I wasn't trying to say you could do it without working hard.

Actually, for most of the year, I was off one day every 7 doing a 34. That's not calculated as home time. So, in a year, I would have another 52 days off.

While I don't like having to take those days off because I thing the 70 hour rule is crap, since I have to take them off when I run hard. I use those 52 extra days per year for relaxing by writing or gaming on my laptop.

If you're happy and it works for you, that's all that matters.

I've always had a good opinion of Crete/Shaffer. This shows why. What I'm really impressed with is the 8% deadhead. They apparently have a good freight base, and work it well.

That said, I personally couldn't work for them with my current circumstances. Being home for 33 days in 9.5 months wouldn't work. If I was single, yeah. But it's not too bad.

It looks like your average CPM is $.484, and it looks like the miles are there. So that's definitely good.

I just like my time off to be at home. Enjoying the fruits of my labor.

P.S. Working less hard doesn't automatically mean less money. I can assure you I don't run near those miles, but I average $60+ a year

I think those numbers also included a 1000 mile special deadhead from Mississippi to Nebraska, which would drop the total deadhead miles from around 8% to around 7%.

If I stay with Crete for this entire year, and get the mileage bonus and paid vacation, I will probably make close to 70k if I push hard, or I can slack off and make only about as much as I made this year.

This thread really isn't about me though. I am framing it in my own experiences and personality, but the thread is really about what is possible. It is possible to run even harder and more efficiently than me. I'm no supertrucking genius, though I'm no slouch either.

Throughout this forum, I regularly see people scoffing at the idea of newer drivers making 60k+

So I proved that it could be done.

Are all new drivers going to be willing to do what I do to make that money? Probably not.
Could I make more money elsewhere? Yes, probably.
Could I do less work and make the same money elsewhere? Yes, probably.

But none of that was the point. The point was showing it could be done.

I recognize that there might be better fits for me out there. I'm starting to think about moving to a company with trucks that have APU's and decent desks built into the trucks. But to do that I might end up losing both the potential for line-5 driving and the freight base that Crete has. Decisions. Decisions. I will not be going anywhere else without a lot more thought. But I am thinking.

Thats is pretty good man. The people harping about hometime really should just go local. OTR is a single mans game. You cant have it all. There are trade off in everything. Bust your ### now so you can enjoy the money later.

Does Crete only hire experienced drivers?

No, I know they hire inexperienced drivers, but they might require you to have a CDL school under your belt first.

If you are interested in hiring on, call the terminal closest to you and ask for their hiring requirements. I don't dare get too specific about particulars, just in case I am wrong.
