I like getting paid by the mile because I get paid for all miles, loaded and empty. A friend of mine gets paid percentage and that doesn't pay him to run empty. Most of the time he's not running far empty, but there's always other times where he's dead headed over 100 miles, for free

% pay has as many ways to cheat a driver as any other. CPM has fewer ways to cheat a driver more than the difference between "hub miles" and the various approximations of the true distance between A and B.

A dishonest employer is able to cheat and method of pay doesn't prevent cheating. Know the employer by talking to numerous drivers over time.

Either one could be better or worse depending on a lot of factors. I wouldn't worry so much about how they pay, but what are the drivers actually making each week, and decide if that's enough to make you want to work there. Same way just comparing cpm between companies doesn't give the whole story. One company can have a lower cpm but drivers still gross more than another with higher cpm.

No docks, rarely do I wait in line anywhere, tanks are easier to back up than most other trailers, loading & unloading is simple & takes usually 20-45 mins.
Not really anything I dislike about it

    tscottme and Mjthompson Thank this.

    *food grade*
Except loads that sample bad, tanks that get refused by shippers because of a poor wash out, and waiting in line at a tank wash only to go back a second time to rewash...

Nothing quite like the surge of a smooth bore that was always my favorite.

Agreed with all that lol but on the plus side any decent company will pay you for all that time. Aggravating but easy money
