I don't think you have one for Casper. You want the bull wagon, grain hopper, flatbed crowd.

Are you an owner operator or some company driver? Yeah I spent money on maintenance and safety on my livelyhood and yes I right everything off. Have you ever been a bussiness owner? Thanks on your insight about on-site about pissing money away on putting money back into company. Lmao. Maybe you are just being silly and if that’s so I apologize. But if not, don’t go into bussiness any time soon buddy. Just FYI, I make 150k in 7 months out of the year and off the rest during cold months and hauling only within 20 miles from my house and 8 hour days. So spare me the lecture on making in trucking and how to be smart about it.

Don’t you feel like buying brake chambers you don’t need just so you can lower your income taxes?

Omg. Is that the best you can do. Silly responses. I’m not gonna exhaust my energy into your silly responses anymore. It’s clear you think you have a following that might fight you amusing. But maybe someday, you may make it on your own and figure out how things work. But for now company driving is a good experience for you. I mean that sincerely. But for now, stick to other threads outside of owner threads. Good day sir

I buy enough parts that it needs. But I will replace all the airbags, chambers, shocks, belts, hoses, at points, even though they are in good working order to increase up time. I change all my filters every 20K. That drives some people nuts.

If you wait until your wheel bearings start to go, what have you saved?

Using something until it breaks isn't necessarily the best way to go. Cause if it breaks at a time when you lose a big load, or piss someone off, it cost A LOT then.

To each his own. However someone runs their business / truck, that's their thing.

Company drivers don’t have anything changed till it blows. They don’t even know where to look on an air bag to see that it is time. And don’t even know how to do brakes or change oil.As far as brake chambers go, if it’s been a few years, change one, you change them all. I don’t change out the diaghrpham becuase the springs still get weak. Change the whole chamber out. They are cheap enough. Keep everything in check, then you have know service calls and no down time. The parts are very easy to change.

When wrench was doing my last PM, he's like " Your tensioner is going."

That's $1,000 if it goes out on the highway by the time it's said and done.

The part was $325. He changed that, put on a new AC condenser, charged the AC, less than 1 hour. $650 total out the door.

Your original statement, as you worded it, seemed to pretty clearly be stating that you prefer to over-spend on maintenance in order to pay less in taxes.

If you were trying to say that you should never skimp on maintenance, because a solid maintenance ethic will pay for itself... well... you didn't make that very clear.

I suspect that most long term successful o/o are at least moderately aggressive on their preventive maintenance.

Personally, I am rather aggressive about maintenance, because getting work done before it is needed means that I can have that work done when I am either on home time or when I am taking a 34 rather than experiencing an unpleasant surprise when something fails under load.
