I messed up and got charged for public drunkeness in Pennsylvania during a 34. After looking into it seems like it could've been a dui so I'm lucky already. The charge is pending awaiting trial and I'm hiring a lawyer to try and do anything to make it so the conviction I do get if I get one doesn't have alcohol associated with it. I realize now how stupid this all is and I've sworn to not drink unless I'm at home going forward.
I still have my current job, and I guess they don't know it happened. I applied to another job and got accepted before this happened. I was really hoping to start that job, but it seems like even though the charge is pending I should probably just keep my current job and fight the charge, rather than jump to the new company while it's pending, huh?
I guess I'm already assuming the smart choice is is keeping my current job for now, which suuuucks but better than not having a job. I guess I'm asking for a sanity check or any input on my situation?
Pending public drunkeness, need advice...

Where were you on the 34? Truck stop? Home? If you were on your hometime I don’t see what the issue would be, as it’s not a moving violation, but if you were with the company truck out on the road somewhere, then the company’s policy will come into play and that can certainly cause problems.

I don’t know man, this subject is so controversial, you gotta be careful what you say on here. And you will likely get a hundred different answers. Might want to just wait and see what your lawyer has to say before you get too excited.

I have to ask what exactly caused you to get charged with PD - and I’m not going to judge.
I wouldn’t think it would be an issue, like said, non moving violation, so just a company policy issue?aussiejosh, Jubal Early Times, Bean Jr. and 6 others Thank this. -
Guess I'm just spooked about losing job and future opportunities over it. I was hoping to join this other job that pays way more, but I'm anxious about doing that while this charge is pending on me.
Realistically I think if I just stay silent to my current company it wouldn't be a problem...'88K100, Crude Truckin', tscottme and 3 others Thank this. -
Your company will find out. Then it may be worse. Good luck with it.
